What are the USB-looking ports on the front of the Play Station 2 for?

    LOL

Sorry, I just thought it was funny to answer it so straight.

Anyhoo, Mouse, Keyboard, More to come in the future I expect.

You can use a Mouse and Keyboard in games like UT and Q3.

My little brother pulled mine off the desk yesterday, jamming the drive shut in the process. I could have killed the little beggar :eyebrow:
Thankfully I managed to fix it.

    The End.

    :D

props to K... still laughing about that...
Anyway, does everyone remember the original Nintendo? and the Super Nintendo, and the Nintendo 64... (my friends had nintendos, not many had playstations, so I can't say anything there)
but ALL of those had ports somewhere for upgrades that were NEVER made... It looks like Playstation will pull through though, finally!!! :D

I still own every one of those consoles you mentioned, and some more obscure ones! Remember the Atari Jaguar, claimed to be 64 bit when it was really 32. I have one with some great games on it, like original doom, ownz joo!

actually the expansion poerts on nintendo consoles were used in some cases

on the nes (@ great cost to yourself) you could go & get literally another nes processor to make the games look better

the snes had a cd-rom avalable in japan (near enough no games came out for it tho)

& im sure one of these console mod places made a thing so you could copy your (ahem) legally owned cartrages to zip disk that plugged into the n64 expansion port

ps dont dis the nes, that is one of the great consoles, some fantastic games & duck hunt with the gun is fantastic :D

anyone remember the 3do, tons of different manufacturers (i think pansonic, goldstar (now LG) & a few others made them)

but they never made a splash @ all same with the sega saturn

i wonder just how many failed consoles there were, then agian sega master systems & mega drives managed to create 2nd revisions without improvements in the graphics (talk about cheaky on segas part)

on the topic of consoles, anyone got an article, pics, done this. when i get my nice new alu case, im gonna put my PS2 in some unused 5" bays behind my LCD and LCD buttons, and put the dvd drive stealthed too, then run cablesto vivo on graphics card and splice power into my PSU, then i just press one button to play PS2 when i want on my comp, great to hide playing games when parents want me to do homework

Wanna know the definition of 'funny story'?

The expansion port on the botom on the SNES was actually for......................

    A PLAYSTATION!

The PS1 started life as an expansion module for SNES, featuring a CD drive. Originally a Nintendo venture, it then became a Sony/Nintendo venture, then Nintendo/Philips, then back to Sony/Nintendo. Then the whole thing fell apart, and Sony went it alone.

Sadly, the R&D top man at Nintendo who was responsible, left in shame after the Virtual Boy turned out to be such a flop. Such a shock after stunning success like the Gameboy. Then, tragically, died after being hit by a car shortly afterwards. :(

yea i remember reading about that & when it went foul nintendo still went ahead & tried to make thit thing but from what i remember nintendo made something so difficult to program for not may people wanted to program for it, that is where sony are sorted they took care of programmers, not gamers, take care of programmers & you will get good games that will attract gamers anyway

simple logic, get good programmers get good games
get bad programmers get bad games
& it took the industry years to wortk this out

the add on for the N64 was actually made, its called the 64DD, and would fit quite snuggly under your normal 64, cept it never sore the light anywhere outside of japan, and very few games were made for it :(
