The one you've linked to is the new PSTwo which is 75% smaller than the original PS2. IIRC you'll need a mod chip to play backed up games on all versions of PS2 including the new one. Afaik there is no modchip out yet for the new one.

Mods: Sorry if this posts breaks the no warez / modchip rule.

Yeah these are just the new slimline PS2's. It won't play copied games out of the box though...

Seeing as the price is in USD, chances are it'll play NTSC discs :p

Yeah, these are available in the US. That price is $50 too expensive, though. My friend works at gamestop, and she says it's only $150, but they're kinda hard to get right now...

It's EXACTLY the same as an older PS2, with capabilities to read more types of dvds (DVD+RWs, etc), a network adapter built in, and no hard drive support (As of this time. They're talking about making an external one, but that's doubtful)

Also, there is no drive tray, since that caused problems in the old PS2, so it's a "pop-top" system similar to the PSone.

It's MUCH smaller, too... Just look at the new one on top of the old one: http://image.com.com/gamespot/images/2004/features/newps2/newps2_screen001.jpg

I need to get one for myself, because mine just stopped reading PS2-DVD games. I tried opening it up and fixing it, but alas, it didn't work. It only reads PS1 and PS2-CD games... Oh well...

    Hope this helps.

Well i just bought one of these :)D), and it's so different to the original PS2 it's scary. It actually seems to load a little quicker, it's a shedload smaller (it's like the size of a notebook keyboard, it's totally silent, rather than the later models of the PS2 (they were noisier than my damned rig :grr:). £100 well spent imho, seenas i only play real games, not copied ones. :)

My parents are planning on getting me one of these for Christmas for up at college so I don't take the one out of my house from my rotten little brother. The only thing that I don't like about this new one is that there is no internell hard drive suppor. There is no bay to put a hard drive into but it does come with it's own built in network adapter which is a plus.
