That interface looks about as user friendly as a goat to me, got about a million options on that thing, none of 'em look to be explained all that well on the UI.
No link to the actual dissection videos?
At least they got one thing right and thats the cooling. Nice fan and heatpipe cooling
With flash installed you'll see the videos in the news story.
My brother was telling me that the DVD spinning actually shifts some air in the unit used for cooling, but the fans don't look too huge and it's got four big chips to cool compared to the 360's two. I'll have to reserve judgement until I see one in the flesh but I still bet the loudest thing in it will be the drive spinning like the 360.
Veles, there's 4 youtube videos in the article
I can't wait to see the video from the Smash My PS3 guys. I want to see fanboys crying.
now lets see them put it back together again... how many extra screws will they come back with...
Im inpressed with the cooling soloution, looked well up together, tho as a overall unit, it simnply has too many parts taht anyone of them could end up as faulty.
Also when they opened the controller, it looked rather empty in my mind as it was missing the rumble units.
Seems theres a unit on ebay for current bid of a whopping £921!
Its just like the PSP's and I find it set out very well and user friendly.
One went saturday for £1220.00
Would have liked to see more focus on this fabled blue ray drive in the ps3. Also the ribbon to connect it to if you can call it a motherboard in there looked sneakingly like the kind commonly used in older toshiba laptops to connect to the cdrom.
I still think its rather funny looking
Agreed. The PSP interface was plain horrible to use and as such so is this, but then most of us knew it would be anyway
Smash my PS3 is just gay. I mean the first one they did had some value to it- it was original, now it's just a pathetic waste of both cash and a good system.
Shocked to see no evidence of anti-static products and the screw driver was magnetized - hope it was not one of those that went for 1200+ Squids
PS3 dissection = cool
Smash My PS3 = uncool
= HOLLY CRAB!!!!!!
http://vegetawantsps3.ytmnd.com/ = LOLOLOLOLOLOL
edit: OMG LOOK AT THAT COOLER!!!! i really hope it is not loud.
The battery on the controller looks replaceable .... and it is so empty, were is the motion sensor part?
You must want a ps3.
yeah i thought the same thing too
thats a verynice set up they have there, with circular fins with a big slow moving fan in the center, then the chips attached by heat pipes.
the whole thing looks very weel thought out, and very well put together, it certainly took them some time to get it open.
even the mobo layout just looks ubelievably simple lol, and i was wondering where all the memory was.... its got 512mb and i only saw 256.
then i found the dissection pictures and saw that RSX has the other 256mb of memory actually on the chip package!...
still i think the 360's approach to memory is better, just having a large 512mb pool. means the graphics chip can allocate itself more memory if needs be. i think the RSX can also steal some of ram from the other 256 pool, but it has to incur higher latencies in doing so.
do you understand the word waste? as in waste of money that could be used in feeding the poor, curing the sick.... etc.....
