they'll be lucky to get a good service up and running quickly.
Anyway this is just more rumors that have been floating around for months - more like industry advice than Sony fact. Esp as when they annouced the PS3 they said they were going to let games designers do their own thing as regards to online play.

I can trust Sony on doing a good job on competing with Xbox Live, but this all media available via Sony Online sounds ludicrous.
Allowing for games to be bought and stored on digital level via the net will open up one of biggest piracy markets in the history of console gaming.
I seriously doubt games will be sold like itunes anytime soon. Updates extra content, special patches maybe but HUB distribution sounds like a fairy tale.

Someone missed the article on games not using BluRay...

Yay, pay even more for content that should be free, and put up with some of the most draconian DRE ever thought up. Sounds like an excellent idea. A hacker's delight, indeed.

Correct me if i'm wrong but isn't this exactly what valve are doing with steam? They seem to have pulled it off fairly successfully and don't appear to be overrun with piracy.

Gee, now, will it be perfect after the delay to next year, or will it debut as a bug ridden POS?

Article is not there?! But... besides that point, online game service sounds like a viable idea. There are already companies making tons of cash "renting" games out or selling them online. The system is basically a pc, makes sense for them to utilize their already massive array of servers to provide a service like this as well.

But of course any media content that you download will be stuck on your ps3, so effectively pointless. This is more Sony (read: bullsh*t)
