I've google some sites and I noticed that you could change your the PS3 controller as PC joypad just by installing software. If you use the software to register the controller with the PC, is the controller fine again to be used with the PS3? Assuming that I use a USB cable to connect between sixaxis and pc. Second, what about Xbox360 wired controller to PS3? I've seen some sites saying you need some adapter while others say it works perfectly. So I'm guessing all controllers are interchangeable and does not damage the controller?
I cannot see how it would damage the controller, the software probably just makes the PC recognise the controller and gives the PS3 controller something to "grab" onto.
I have used my ps3 controller on my pc in the past and it was perfectly fine when used again with the ps3. If I remember correctly though, even when only using the usb cable to connect to the pc, it still wiped the Bluetooth connection details so the usb cable has to be used at first when using it on the ps3 again. To be honest though, I found the whole thing more trouble than it was worth. For the required drivers to work, you have to remember to turn driver signature checking off during boot and even then I still had issues with the button mapping and the software that recognised the ps3 controller and made it so Windows could read its inputs.
I brought an adapter to use my wire 360 pad on my PS3 and it works great, can remember where I got it from though, cost about £25-£30.
I was just looking at a software rather than hardware. At that price, might as well buy a new controller
You want a program called 'motion in joy': There are numerous tutorials, but it worked fine for me when I tried it ( I use my PS2 controller now via an adaptor since I dont actually need a PS3 6 axis controller for myt PS1 & PS2 emulator ).
Cant you just use a Xbox360 wired controller if you've got one they work perfectly with windows, I used the ps3 pad for a while ages ago and it was a bit of a piss about especially with a 64 bit version of windows
I had 2 xbox's for windows, both failed. bought after 18 months, bought another one. Then bought a ps3 which comes with one ps3 controller. Trying to get the ps3 controller to play nice with pc and xbox with ps3. Save money on getting 2 extra controllers
