The Mystique 220 is the second version of the card. A better card in most ways, though not as good as the "Millennium" or "Millennium II", the latter of which I used for years as my main GFX card.

Depending on the place they have stuff on mndays thats worth taking a crack at. otherwise its not worth it. I also found but didnt buy a 128meg mp3 player for 60bux. What comp usa u go to? city state? I go to the one here in rego park in new york.

I wish you luck on your bargan bin hunting. I also found a 9200se 128mb card for 56bux but I diont like ati cards. Especialy the vanilloa 1's. They have stuff thats been returned or the package has been opened in the store but its stuff that works.

The only reason i'm looking at the Mystique, is that is has been confirmed to have CSYNC, PCI, and CHEAP!! :)

Just need to know if there is a difference between Mystique and Mystique 220.

Or do all Matrix support CSYNC?

Oh.. was able to test SIS VIdeo card tonight. ANd official finding is that it DOES NOT support Cysnc or Interlaced. Its all grayed out.

Going to try the GF MX and Trident tomorrow.

All Matrox GFX gards support CSync, as they're used by professional video editing teams and the like.

Is that true? I'm not doubting Anakha. But if it is.. that is awesome :)

I still have two more video cards to test. So if I can avoid using extra money that will be cool.

I also brought my lCD Screen to work. So i'm going to start resoldering later today, if all the video card fails.

    Ok..

Here are my findings on my PCI Video cards. Since there are various flavors of any particular video chipset, this may not apply to you. But I wanted to put my findings up:

SIS 6326 by Pine - Interlaced and Composite Greyed out. Unable to add custom resolution

Trident 96xx - Interlaced is On, but can not be changed, and composite is greyed out. Unable to add / change custom resolution

Aopen GF2 MX440 - Able to maniuplate Interlace, but Composite is unchecked and greyed out. So I guess the card does not support Composite.

ATI 7000 - Has both composite and interlaced.. but can't get LCD to work, even though i used exact timing that worked on 9800Pro. Differnet PC and OS. Not sure if that is a factor. I'm going to put the ATI 7000 into my desktop w/ the 9800 later tonight.

Those are my findings from the PCI Cards I have.

    LCD Boot Problem, resolved.

Ok.. I found out how to make this work.

LCD WILL Boot, if you have it on PCI, and set Mobo bios to init PCI first. This works with all my PCI video card, no mater if it had dual or single head.

For me, I have an AGP 9800Pro w/ DVI and VGA.

If you have a monitor on the DVI port and PSOne on the vga, the PSOne LCD will not power on. If you view the take a look at the display properties, there is no display device connected.

So bascially, the VGA port will take precedent over the DVI port, as long as there is nothing plugged into the DVI port. If there is somethign plugged into the DVI port, whether PCI or AGP, the VGA port will not initialize w/ teh PSOne LCD Plugged in.

    Hope this helps.

    SAD

PS. got my ATI 7000 back in my win2k server, to see if I can get timing to work again.

    Hi all,

Okay, here's how to get it working on boot :D

Connecting everything the way that SuAsDu works fine....

All you need to do is acquire 3 70ohms Resistors and solder them onto the VGA plug the same way the the dummy VGA guide tells you.

Doesn't do anything detrimental to the quality of the image as far as I can see and the bad boy powers on and displays directly from startup....

.....although it looks bloody awful with the post screen and the like rolling and flickering like mad :) (PS timings don't kick in until windows loads obviously)

Oh, and the reason it will work in a PCI card is because the card will kick out a signal anyway, regardless of whether there is something connected or not.

    And one more thing....

S3 Savage Cards don't work at all for this LOL......I tried, it failed to get a lower refresh rate than 23Mhz and I couldn't add custom resolutions......go figure LOL....but it was worth a try :)

    Hope this helps.

Great job man!! Thanks for your input :)

Hey.. 70ohm resistors for the VGA dummy? The mod used 75 ohms, as far as I read. I went to radio shack and they ahve no 75 or 70 ohms, which sucked.

So I am assuming you are connecting the PSOne to a Video card w/ both DVI and VGA, is that right?

Are you running NTSC or PAL? Can you post your PS Timing?

im not going to post a requirements list because it is stated quite clearly with the csync
the 1cm drop is caused by this, the reason your screen goes haywire when you click csync in the control panel is because its resetting the timings you have to redo them after this.

to check and see if your card supports csync:
the csync option in PS will be grayed if your card does not support csync :)
lol, thats really about all i can say in regards to that, most vendors don't necessarily state "CSYNC INSIDE!" or "now supporting CSYNC!"
you could always try contacting the maker of the card to see if csync is supported or not.

    MUHAHAHA!!!

Got great news!! Well.. good news for me. I finally got my PSOne to work w/ my ATI Rad 7000 PCI.

Ok.. here is the weirdest thing.

As I mentioned before, i was able to get the PSOne to work off the VGA port on my 9800 VGA. But the problem I had is that I had a DVI monitor on the other port. So the 9800 VGA port did not initialize the PSone, which is a known fact.

So I got an ATI 7000 and tried to get the exact timing I used in PS on the 9800, but it didn't work. I just got garbage.

Well.. I was able to figure out WHY I was getting garbage.

On the 9800Pro I had the color set to either 16bit or 32bit. Which was fine for hte display to wokr.

So I put it on my 7000, and it didn't work.

To get the LCD to work on the ATI 7000 AGP and PCI ( I have both cards), all I had to do was kick the color down to 256.

Once I did that.. TADA!! the picture comes up. And it actually looks "REAALY" good

After figuring this out, I had tears of job :waah:

So.. I have no idea why it didn't work at 16bit or 32 bit. I could see the cursor, the the screen had a diagonal distrotion to it. I guess you could call this the "NES" effect.

Since everythign looks good, i'mgoing to post my timing:

    PowerStrip timing parameters:
    640x480=640,24,56,64,480,6,7,31,12175,312

    Generic timing details for 640x480:
    HFP=24 HSW=56 HBP=64 kHz=16 VFP=6 VSW=7 VBP=31 Hz=30

    Linux modeline parameters:
    "640x480" 12.175 640 664 720 784 480 486 493 524 interlace +hsync +vsync

Now I'm going to resolder the 15 pin d-sub. The butchered video cable I used is like 10 ft. So its kinda long. I'm making it now w/ a 3 ft cable.

So hopefully resoldering the points will improve the quality.

Just an FYI, 8 point is kinda legible. Looks like bee's screen.

    I am tottally happy now.

So no more composite for me. I'm sticking with VGA :)

Its also cool to see 4 possible displays on my XP Display setting.

If anyone has quesitons, please feel free to ask. I've gone through the good and bad w/ this mod. And I am now very hapy w/ the VGA

Now.. to finalize the wiring, and figure where to put it in my case :naughty:
