    A quick question for MrBurritoMan:

    On your wiring diagram...
You have Pin 1 on the LCD connected to Pin 5 on the VGA.
This is not on the original diagram. What purpose does it serve?
    Thanks,
    Dan.

OK - I finally got the display fired up and working! :D
It seems that my Radeon X800 XT does NOT support C-Sync, which would explain why it was not detecting my LCD.

I tried using an old AGP card that I had knocking about (I think it is a Rage 128)
and I got a good picture (although it looked like it would need a lot of twiddling in Powerstrip).

There is a guy on EBay.co.uk who is selling PCI Matrox G200s for a few quid each
so I picked one up as, from what I can gather, they are one of the best cards for this mod. If you are after one I suggest you head over to EBay!

if it's rolling down, reduce the number of horizontal lines by 2. :)

Had to register to ask this question:

What cable do I need to run the LCD off of my video card's s-video ouput?
I went to Radio Shack yesterday and picked up an S-video to RCA adapter, as well as a standard RCA cable. The cable does not seem to fit in the back of the LCD in the "Input AV" jack because of the connector's shield. Did I buy the wrong thing?

Well I've read through the first 20-some pages but the question never seems to be answered directly, or there are some answers that are simply:

    "Use this (link)"
And the link is broken or invalid. I'll keep digging..
[EDIT] Oh sorry, just noticed you mentioned the previous page. I'll take a look, thanks. :duh:

Im thinking of taking the psone to the next level of modding (having the driver seperate from the scree) but ive hit a porblem,
Whats the visable area of the actual screen unit?
Whats the outside measurment of the actual screen unit?
How long are the wires between the screen and the electronics?

Hello. Here are the rough measurements...
    Visible Area = 105x84mm
    Outside Measurements = 116x97mm
How long are the wires? Well, aside from the cable that powers the backlight, the screen is connected to the board by a ribbon cable that is about 20mm long (if that). This cable is very small and looks pretty specialised so seperating the screen from the driver board could be very trick indeed!

If you have a cunning plan let me know, as the driver board takes up 4 drive bays!
    Yours,
    Dan.

    Awesome, it worked.
However, there seems to be a black border around the image and some refresh rate issue. Did you guys have to set your to a specific value?

Thanks alot, hmn custome cable design i see.
Thinking of mounting the board in a base and mount the screen similer to the CUBE mod fetured here at bit-tech, however the second mod im planning need the two 2 be seperate (think mech cockpit :naughty: ).

Look back a few pages i read this posted several pages.

Hello there, i'm fairly new to the forum but i've done my reading!
I did the mod as instructed by the Pinlayout on:
    http://www.bit-tech.net/modding/2004/07/07/psone_lcd/2.html
Since my cable was F/M i had to cut the end off.
Did all of the soldering, but what seems to happen when i plug the VGA cable into the GFX card is the LCD shuts off, or goes blank.
Also, when i touch the VGA pins the lcd goes black.... is it not grounded properly or something?
    Thanks for the help!

    My connections look like this:

    Did i mess up??

I don't get it...the VGA cable has been wired up perfectly, and the power adapter plugged in, and all I get is varying scan lines. Neither computers I've tried it on will either recognise it or output an image to it. I've even bought a ps-one to s-video cable and I have the same problem.

Looks like a ground problem I think.

You will get loads of problems with VGA, especially on nvidia cards, you need to use a VGA dummy, plug it into the computer, restart it then plug in the psone screen to get the computer to output a signal, and do this every time your computer restarts. AFAIK nobody has got around this, you just have to buy selected radeon cards, or buy a pci graphics card. Which is why I suggest going S-Video, what you've bought is wrong, go back a page and look at a link to my site, which has a guide on the s-video cables you need, hopefully it's clear.

Perhaps, but then the PSOne screen would display the same as the primary monitor, and at the same resolution.

Best way forwards is S-Video, a hell lot easier and the quality is just as good, if not better!
