@user0001: I'll update the web-page to include the EDID from my EEPROM (which is for a PAL screen) to download

@antihero: You got me there! The mod needs 2x 47k. The 10k is a pull up for the DCC line that PAL screens need high as a signal to enable.

@antihero: Sorry, I don't know about NTSC screens. But a 10k resistor won't cost you more than a few cents :)

@all: the webpage now has my EDID data available for download in powerstrip format.

Consider yourself lucky dood, i cant even get that far...(stuck at a black screen)

Lcd powers up, but i cant see anything from my desktop on it..Now.. my video card (radeon 9250) has 3 outputs.. s vid, rca (yellow phono plug) and vga. With the assortment of cables i have (from years of being audio/video geek) i can run either svideo ~> converter to rca ~> rca to 3.5 mm

Or.. i can just run the straight rca /3.5 mm from my video card, to the lcd screen

Either way that i run it.. all i get is a black screen (a good sign.. considering i initially tried soldering a vga cable with one of the d-sub connectors cut of.. then just matched the cable colors to the pinouts on serio's site)

Unfortunately with that, the vga cable had 2 pairs of red, green, and blue (each color had a thin wire, AND a thicker wire of the same color) serios site didnt mention anything about that. so i gave that up (i can snap a pic of it with my webcam just incase) It's an "official" ps one lcd, and when i tried the vga route..i was soldering the cable to the middle header (the one that plugged into the back of the playstation itself.. when i'd connect it to my pc, black screen.. so i figured i did something wrong... desoldered it, and went rca/svideo/adaptor route

Can anyone give me some pointers on where i should start figuring this out? Heres my video settings (no freakin clue where i goofed.. but its showing as me having 4 monitors lol) My other video card is an nvidia 6800

heres a link to my screenshot: Screen shot

I completely removed the middle header from the pcb (my skills are above avg) so i have nice clean solder holes to work with. The 3.5 mm plug is plugged into the black hole in the lcd, and as im writing this, its using s video. Bios is set up to initilize agp first (had issues with initializing pci 1st.. my "real" monitor wouldnt turn on.. it would post with a completely black screen.. but even after it go to windoze, it still wouldnt turn on)

Any pointers? Thanks in advance for any help.. if anyone thinks this might require talkin on im, i use yahoo or msn.

    Again, thanks

Hey Polo, how did you do it? did you force the 2 cables in the connector at the same time?
I got mine working but it doesn't look like yours. I had to clamp it together, and I'm so scared to touch it.. Surprised it even works.. :worried:

Quick noob question, if I have a 7900GTX, do I need another regular PCI card to support this, or will I be able to use the VGA port on the 7900GTX?

And, anyone who has completed this mod have a good case to recommend for ease of installation? I really want to pull this off, but the less modification I need to make to the case the batter. Will any ATX case work, as long as it has 3 3.25" bays?

For those that have it working, when playing full screen games does the second screen slide over onto the main one? This would be pretty annoying.

Edit: Nevermind, after browsing this thread as well as the internet I have found the answer to my questions.

    EEPROM

You do NOT need a second video card (if you got the right spare parts)!!
If you can find an old monitor, just remove the EEPROM chip and hook it up like Johnny_gadget did.

When you boot up your computer the screen may come up garbled, so use powerstrip to fix it.

Running it right now on 7800GT :thumb: :thumb:

could someone help me in reprogramming this EEPROM :wallbash: :wallbash:
I want it to start with the correct settings on bootup so I won't need to use powerstrip..
When I try to write to the EEPROM using powerstrip all i get is "NO VALID EEPROMS WERE FOUND" :sigh:

Well, I've already ordered a Matrox Mystique off of ebay, for $10. I will use that because I don't much feel like doing any extra labor, and certainly don't want to damage my new shiny 7900GTX.

Currently waiting for auction to end for the PSONE lcd as well, it seems as if they cost around $60 nowadays. I suppose the popularity of this mod as well as lingering stock has increased the price pretty high.

When I get the necessary equipment, I will post back with pictures of the mod, or my problems with it. :)

Also, has anyone who used a second video card noticed any performance decrease in using two sets of display drivers? I'm talking about your main card, and playing games etc. I don't see a reason why it should, but others have said that two sets of drivers might lower the overall performance.

    Don't solder on your card

Certainly you wouldn't want to damage your 7900, but u don't have to. !

All you need is an old graphics card (prefferably non working) and cut off the VGA port. You can then connect the PSOne board to it..
When you're done, just use a regular monitor cable to connect it back to the second portt on your GeForce card (you will need the DVI adapter)

I had to resort to this since Windows wouldn't start up with the Matrox and my 7800GT

You will also need the car adaptor or build a power supply of your own if you do not want to route power cables thru your case...

    See pics Below..

    Good luck! :thumb:
