I've got a PSP and I'm currently running 2.0. I had been waiting for v2.0 for a while so I could use WPA-PSK/TKIP as 1.5x only supported WEP and I wasn't going to sacrifice my WLAN's security. Ironically, my Netgear wg602v3 WAP doesn't work with the PSP via WPA and Netgear has acknowledged this, and supposedly a future firmware will fix the issue. I also wanted MP4 AVC support which was included in the 2.0 update. All of the updates following 2.0 seem to have been fairly pointless in my opinion, carrying only very minor features. Sony seems hell bent on blocking the use of homebrew and pirated applications and in some cases it seems they've succeded as word has it that there are several games which don't work with the existing loaders. Personally I haven't seen any "killer app" to convince me to downgrade back to 1.5 for homebrew use as I don't care much for emulators but at the same time Sony isn't coming up with any killer features to convince me to upgrade beyond 2.0. However, if, as GTA:LCS did, newer games require you to upgrade your firmware to play a purchased copy of the game, I'll suck it up and upgrade.

i got my psp before uk launch from japan, 0 dead pixels, firmware 1.5, ive upgraded to 2.0 used it for new features, then downgraded back to 1.5, its just so damn versatile, it really is a shame to limit the psp possibilities with firmware updates.

Running 2.5 here. Mine came with 1.52 but as there are no homebrew apps which really appeal to and I don't generally agree with piracy I saw no reason not to upgrade. Let's face it, it wont be long before there are more games like GTA:LCS which force an update so why delay the inevitable?

GTA made me upgrade to 2.0... will probably downgrade when I want some emulator action again (speedball 2 on the AtariST), thankfully up/downgrading doesn't take long. Hope someone finds a loophole in 2.6 soon :)

I always update my PSP with the newest firmware. What gets me is why on earth people would buy a PSP and fill it with old games? To me, it's like buying a Ferrari to go to the shops.

WMA support? Hell yeah! No more convertors for me.

    Upgrading now :)

That's exactly how I see it. Although I have absolutely no use for WMA support so I don't think I'll be upgrading to 2.6 quite yet. I'm sticking with 2.0 so that just in case someone comes out with a really killer homebrew app I have the option of downgrading. On the other hand, I won't upgrade until a game forces me to update or sony adds an awsome feature in a newer firmware.

o0o is that the exploit that allows you to downgrade?

It's reasons like this why I dont mind upgrading - I know that if I ever do want to downgrade for any reason, someone will always find a way to do it, it just takes time :)

I made the mistake of going past version 1.0 on my PSP because I really did want to run all the fun things on it, but I have version 2.6 now and I am dissapointed that it dosent support me favorite site's RSS feeds. Mainly slashdot and bit-tech. The WMA support to me is a joke. All my audio files are in mp3 or ogg. Converting the files is pretty easy if there not using licenses and the psp can not even play those files anyway.

I updated to 2.6 as soon as I heard about the RSS feeds, gutted that it's audio feeds only. :(
