I don't think so. I know that Sony USA wont warrently PSPs imported from Japan.

I'm guessing that is a game store similar to the US stores like Gamestop and EB? If so you should know that if theres no offical release date for something (like the PSP in Europe), then pre-release dates that those stores have don't matter at all. Its when that company thinks the game will be released. Most likely they have that stated some where on the site, and that release dates for pre orders could change at any time. Heck, theres sites taking Pre-Orders for PS3 that are listing the release date as Sept. 1 2005.

I've got a Japanese one. On the side of the box it says "Only for sale and use in Japan". I can't tell you what that implies but the UK based company that I bought it from are saying they will warranty it.

If you were to send it back to Japan and get it sent back to an address in Japan then you might have a chance.

Oh and Dixons are just putting up a random guess.

I got something from LikSang saying they are considering putting together an after sales warranty scheme for people buying Jap PSP's in Europe. That was a good few weeks ago though.

The US real launch date was only announced like four weeks before the actual day (like mid feb. and it was released right before Easter). It could still come out before Sept. Unless Sony themselves comment on the date, it doesn't mean squat.

Yeah, you can't take them seriously.

If you really want one, get an import. Otherwise it could be Christmas before you get your PSP.

I've found a site, which imports them (value pack for £146+p&p £17 i think) But it says under support which I read:

    Customs:
You may be subject to import duties and taxes, which are levied once a shipment reaches your country. Additional charges for customs clearance must be borne by you; we have no control over these charges and cannot predict what they may be. Customs policies vary widely from country to country; you should contact your local customs office for further information. Additionally, when ordering from us, you are considered the importer of the goods and must comply with all laws and regulations of the country in which you are receiving the goods.

Anyone know the regulation if I say, I was to but a PSP+game from these, the cost if any?

You would get stung by import VAT, customs duty and the handling fee...

Any good buisness (thats worth dealing with), will deal with customs and imports in a proper way. Its the law, plain and simple. If they declare the item like they should you most likely will get taxed on it (no, i'm not up to date on my UK import laws as i'm in the US, so I can't say what it actually is :p).

The only way you can get around it is buying the PSP off another person, say ebay. I know theres UK sellers on Ebay that are selling Jap and US PSPs. You wont have to pay customs if there shipping from within the UK. Another way would be to buy it right from a person. Lets say me. I could buy the PSP and mail it to you, not declare it, and hope for the best. The only problem with this is if you don't declare the contents of a package properly it may end up in customs for a long time, or they may end up charging even more.

Note, I wasn't offering to do that. It was just an example. You might be able to find someone in the US selling one on ebay thats willing to not declare it properly. I know when i've sold things to people in canada I didn't declare the items right saving them the fees. Also when i've sent things to europe I declared them as gifts and not merchindise, thus having no customs fees.

BTW just for info. If you buy the PSP Value Pack (+game) from Play-Asia or Lik-Sang. The Duty Tax will be about £50.

I took that into consideration when purchasing. TNT always look shocked when you have the correct money on the doorstep :D

Gifts still get charged duty tax, it's just slightly different to normal goods.

Why will you be selling your PSP Sc0rian? :(
