    Original story

Aside from the trademark violation, I'm not sure I see what the problem is with this. As long as the buyer knows it's not a real ferarri, how is this different from selling a kit car which is a reproduction ofa classic car?

As long as the buyer knew what they were getting it shouldn't be illegal (aside for the trademark infringement)

Damnit that would have been awesome... They should set up shop in some country that wouldn't arrest them for that.

Or just call them Furrari or something.

I can remember a fake Ferarri being on Top Gear once, they said it would be a little tricky to tell the difference apart from an untrained eye, were beign sold in Surrey or Sussex I think for around £20,000.

Ive read about these before, years back, there are 'legitimate' companies that do loads of these, can't be bothered to research right now but may be the same top gear thing already mentioned

I'd absolutely love to have a Countach kit car. Put an RB26DETT and you could probably match or get pretty close to the original in performance.

The Diablo and the Countach are pretty popular kit cars based on the Pontiac Fiero body. A 355 challenge based on an MR2 would be pretty snazzy too. :thumb:

Probably wouldn't make as much. People see a cheap farrari replica, they'll buy it, people see a cheap car from a new company, they probably wont.

Well, ripping off an existing design is so much cheaper and there's a ready market for a Ferrari lookalike.

Concepts are usually full of wonky engineering like fold-a-way doors and usually look very very strange. (Ranging from strangely beautiful, to "kill it with fire.") But even so, they aren't immediately recognizable to anyone outside of a few car buffs. :wallbash:

The MR2/355 kits have been around for years. Now you can get one to make the mk3 MR2 look (kind of) like a 360. Who would spend that much to look like a show-off to the other gender and a pillock to anyone who knows about cars is beyond me.

    Its illegal for 2 reasons...

    1) Copywrite ofc. The more people with fake ferraris the less people with real ferraris :p
    2) Cobbled together cars are dangerous, structurally unsafe vehicles in general.

Be cool if they made them w/o engines though, just for looks :)

i HATE those kits. You know it's not a Ferrari as soon as it fires up. The headlights are normally too far back as well. They should arrest the people who bought them a well.

There is also a kit to change my car (406 coupe) into a 360.
