so i jumped the 14th pin on my PSU. the fan spins for a fraction of a second and then stops. is there anyway to find out what's wrong? it's a "Turbolink 350W" whatever that is.

Some PSUs won't stay on unless there is a load on it. You can usually accomplish this with a big fat resistor. How big? uh I'll get back to you...

EDIT: Just from a quick browse through some notes, a 10 watt 10 ohm wire wound resister would probably do the trick.

EDIT 2: This is all assuming that you're using the power supply in question sans PC. Is this the case?

To add to Jum's reply, put it on the 5V line. Antec's PSU tester uses about 5 ohms to give a 1A load, which by the ATX spec should give the specified regulation figures.

A 4.7 ohm or 2 x 10 ohm in parallel will do the trick.
