Very good idea I end up using a bit of tissue paper half the time, kind of spoils the look of the whole computer
Might wanna spell the subject correctly including spaces mate...It hurts my eyes. Correct punctuation makes things so much easier to read. Dust filters would be awesome on my HX450. I've had to clean it twice already. It should be some kind of slot in tray with the filter in it. Just slide it out, wash and dry, then slide back in. Edit: Next post is LEET!!!!
I'd be happy if Case manufacturers all included dust filters on the psu intakes (and included psu intakes for that matter).
I think it's not a good idea. I don't feel like opening my cases every week or so to clean it. Also, it reduces air flow, which is already reduced by the case fan filter. Having a PSU fan filter is also useless. Dust that passed through the case fan filter, will pass on the one of the PSU.
As GoodBytes said, PSU filters are useless as they draw "clean" air through the case. If dust is a problem the filter should be on the intake fans. I have used filters in the past, and find that they don't really work that well. Fine dust gets through, so some cleaning is necessary anyway. Besides, to compensate for the flow restriction the fans need to run at a higher speed, which generates more noise. Putting the computer 10-15 cm above floor level, having clean and tidy floors helps much more. I also clean my computers with compressed air every once in a while to prevent built up of fine dust.
+1 for that brother! Considering building a nice cold tile surface specifically just to sit under my Fractal R3 case to clean and cool the air intakes.
On my Cosmos and my previous case, the Hiper Anubis (great case), they both had dust filters built in. But I think PSU's should now include them. Although for a proper fine filter, it may decrease airflow, may cause the fan to speed up faster and sooner.
