I've been getting random restarts, both while gaming and on desktop/browsing, no BSOD just a reboot. There's no crash dump files being created as far as i can find and research online seems to suggest my PSU could be on it's way out.

Thought i'd offer it out to the knowledgeable folk here for any other suggestions on causes. One possibility could be my damaged mobo?

    It's probably the missing cap!

    ^^Whats the mans just said!

You can swap out the PSU by all means to check if it is that, though you can't rule out the motherboard given it has a fault/component missing.

I reckon the motherboard is on its way out more so than your power supply.

Dam. Problem is that it's so intermittent that even swapping out the psu might not show it for a while. Could play a game for a couple of hours no problem, then restart after gaming and just browsing. Or other way round. Will have to keep an eye on the mp that's for sure.

I have said this on here before about sudden power outs on PSUs. Check the kettle lead.. I drove myself nuts for about a week testing everything and that was all it was, just a dodgy connection.. Rule out the obvious before you strip everything down.

I actually looked at this as PSU drying, might first thought was how did you get it wet..:D

Will do. Will also get a surge protector see if it's something with the electrics in the flat. Had a new bulb go pop the other day.

It's not so much wet as, :worried: , 'sticky'.
