A lad i know has a 955 with a 4890, hes running a CX430W psu and is having strange intermittent problems. He said it took 20 attemps for the PC to turn on, yet ive just been round and it turned on first time every time. His CPU is fine, his motherboard seems fine (put one of my AM3 cpu's in it a while back and it was as stable as a rock, im just wondering if that PSU is enough to cope, its not the V2, and reading around it seems theres a possibility that it might actually be a 300W unit ?!. Left him with one of my 500W coolermaster to see if he has the same problems. Also, if you run si soft sandra the computer becomes unresponsive for maybe a minute then it will catch up (testing if the mouse moves for instance) /edit just found out this can be normal sisoft behavior.
It should handle it fine, I presume it is on 1 12v rail? Sisoft sometimes has to wait for info to be updated from the internet.
According to the internetz its really not enough, stated 28amps isnt enough ? But places are saying the cx430 is actually a 300w unit, and is nowhere near its given spec.
I don't trust here-say when this review is much more thorough & conclusive: http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/article/Corsair-CX430-Power-Supply-Review/1200 They have tested the original & the v2, both deliver the full 430watts & more...
That issue aside, i know wattage doesnt have too much to do with it, and its more about the amps, but everywhere has said a 500w minimum for that card ? Seems a bit extreme, im running a 2500k + gtx 570 on a corsair 520.
