Besides buying a tool how can one get 20 pin atx connectors apart, we are trying to sleeve a psu and cant get it off or the connectors its size.
A bent paperclip can do it, although I don't know the technique to it. When sleeving my PSU I had 1/2" sleeving for the 20 pin, I just bent it sideways and laid the wires as flat as possible running along the top of the connector and just slid it through. It takes a lot of wiggling because it gets stuck easily, but it can be done with 1/2". Getting heatshrink on there is another story.
alot of the tools are actually quite cheap, i've found some places that have them for about AU$5...AU$10 at the most
Since you are in the states you may want to check a radioshack or a compusa to see if they have the tool. I was however able to remove those wires by using the smallest flat head screwdriver I had (the kind that comes in that little clear plastic case and are silver with a black tip). I then pushed it down either side where the clips hold the square pins in place and once it was pushed down far enough twist the screwdriver to get the pin pushed flat. Do that twice and the pin should pull right out. When putting back together make sure you pull the flaps back out but only just a little. So that the pins stay in there once more.
