    My current specs:
    Silverstone 500w SST-ST50EF-Plus
    4 GB PC2-6400C5 800MHz DDR2 Dual Channel
    1GB EVGA GTX460 SC 763/3800MHz
    Intel E8400 Core2Duo 3.0 GHz (3.4 overclock)
    7200RPM Hard Drive
    1 DVD-RW

Built this rig a fair while ago and only the motherboard and PSU are left of the original build. Playing a certain MMO (age of conan) on 1920 x 1200 and its stuttering when there is a lot of action on screen. Think my CPU may be the bottleneck. Thing is that i can only really upgrade to a quad core but im not sure if my PSU can take it. According to this I would need 509w or so.
So my question is would i be ok with this extra load on my PSU and would i even notice that much of a difference?

PS I have a kind of gung-ho casual knowledge of computer builds so forgive my my build seems kind of odd.

What FPS do you get when it slows right down?

Hmm Interesting reading. Ive checked my cores and both are active. Worring that some people dont notice that much of difference depending on their CPU.

It goes down to about 17 to 23 from 40. I thinking its my CPU because changing the graphics settings from low to high makes only a small difference.

Reading around, some people upgraded to a quad core and noticed 2x (and in some cases 3x) the performance in AoC, as it seems to be a very CPU-intensive game.

You can get a Q9450 really cheap on fleabay; not much point going for a Q9550 or Q9650 as they are more geared towards overclocking (higher multipliers).

6MB Broadband with a 35-90 Latency. It also doesnt "feel" like lag if that makes sense. No rubber banding and such.

That looks good buts it second hand. Bit worried someone has overclocked the crap out of it and it might be on its last legs.. or am i just being a snob?

Even though overclocking can reduce the lifespan its not going from like 5yrs to 1 it will still last another 5-10yrs probly even longer.

ive had my i7 920@4hgz for 2 years is it now ?

ive got a E2160 @ 3.2Ghz (default 1.8Ghz) still going strong after 5 years or something.

Only extreme overclocking (read: overvolting) reduces the lifespan of a CPU; running at 4GHz at or near stock volts does absolutely no harm to it whatsoever, which is why so many people opt for second hand CPUs.

And the Q9450 is not a great overclocker, so it's a very safe option - chances are the previous owner doesn't know what overclocking is. :D

doesn't look like the cpu is the issue, and couldn't imagine it was...more of an engine issue and poor coding...
