Electronics Pulsing LED

This is propably been asked 101 times. I tried to use search, but because of my limited patience, I wasn't able to get specific answer to my question.

Now we get to the point. How can you make stepless loop where a LED lights and dims? I made a little animation to help you understand what I mean.

 

You could use a programmable IC (PIC, AVR etc) with a PWM output and program a loop in it.

I asked him about 12V power input a while ago and I don't remember what he said but I do know he replied quickly.

 

Thanks for the links. Too bad I'm going to abort my modding project. Seems too expensive and complicated.
