i always c people stick to the E1250 pumps or now the DD12v pump...
I'd like to know why they dont use a far more powerful and cheaper coy pond pump? there r loads about that will get through almost 5000lph silently.

im very nu to water cooling....infact im still buying bit for my system....but r these pumps just too strong or summit?

I intend to use 2 rads on my single loop, so i guess i'll need a good strong pump.

With watercooling it's not the flow rate of the pump that is most important. It's the max head rating. Also the pump needs to be suitable to have the correct size barbs etc to connect the tubing.

There's no reason why you can't use any other pump. People generally go with the Ehiem hoppy pumps, because they're in-line pumps, and barbs are easily available. (and they're quiet)

If you can fit one of those pumps you've found into your design, then by all means go ahead. :baby:

Relyability is a big issue. Most pumps are not designed to run inline let alone 24/7!

but yest the main thing you need to look for is head pressure. :thumb:

All aquatic pumps are designed to run 24/7

Trust me there are alot of pumps out there that dont like running inline 24/7. (even if they are designed to) :)

Oh and another thing to keep a look out for is the power the pump consumes. Alot of thiswill be converted to heat and will hurt temps quite badly. Tor example the Eheim 1260 pumps are very bad as they have a very high wattage in comparison to their head pressure.

so the 3 ehime 1250 i have that are just over 3 years old, and have been running the entire time, are mad at me? what do you mean they dont like to run 24/7 mine are running great, and the are under alot more work then most water cooling setups demand of them, running inline filtering a salt water setup (100 gallons ~400l or so). and yes i run them inline, one running my powered skimmer setup, one feeding my overflow sump filter, and the other one is just for water movement.

while i dont know about the 1260, but the 1250 pushes so mutch water throught it every hour the temp increase would be minnor (its not there long enough to get hot)
