Ok, so I'm planning to mod my 800D for a 240 rad to go in the bottom compartment where the extra hard drive bays are. However, I have been unsure whether i should set the fans up so that they draw air up through the bottom of the case through the rad, or push it down through the rad and expel out the bottom? Another option would be to place the fans under the rad rather than on top of it (though I'm not sure that this would have any impact). Here is an idea of what I'm going for.
Push is generally better, so what I would do is fans first as intake. Then mount the rad on top of them. Or you probably have the space to use a pair of 12mm thick fans as well in a push pull configuration.
Either way, you want to make sure thats there is clearance under the case for air to go in/out, if its on carpet you may find there is basically no room for air to move around. I am unsure as to which way would give better temps, push or pull, you could assemble it loosely in both configurations and compare the temps when under load, although this would be a bit time consuming would only need to be done once. I think if you had it pulling air up from the floor you would get dust collecting alot faster in the fans/rad.
It's a tricky one. There won't be enough clearance for push-pull config, so I think I'll just have to try a couple of options and see which one works best. The case is on a hard surface, so the feet give it about an inch of clearance from the floor.
