ok, not so much iv got a problem, but several ppl have the problem. here the story. a few months ago, one of my mates 5200 starts playing up, its just a basic 128mb msi 5200, around one year after purchase the thing goes from getting 90+ fps in mohaa to less than 20fps. so we think, ahh dud card, o well time to uprgade so he does. around 6 months after this my mate gets a 5200 to replace a crappy 32mb tnt2 he was using, most of us only really play mohaa so the card didnt need to be the best so the 5200 was deemed a suitable choice. around 1 year later, this card starts doing the same thing, only the card is a gigabyte branded version, im now talking to a few mates and they all seem to get similar issues with there 5200's after around a year of use. is this common? they are all different branded card, and only ever really play things like CoD, mohaa and some CS 1.6 doesnt matter what settings they use, still stayys under 20 fps wether its set at 640x480 or 1600x1200
i dnt think that there is any way a 5200 can play MOHAA at fps90+....have u checked the heatsink an c if its overheating.....or different drivers.....i didnt think it was possable to play games like MOHAA/CS:S/1.6 on a 5200 as it simply dnt have any horsepower behind it....as its based on a mx440...it cant even use its dx9 hardware built in as its so weak.
well then these damn things were supercharged as the mojoity of the time it never dropped below 60fps, the most recent one before it had issues was able to play HL2 at 800x600 at a steady 50 fps on a 1.6ghz P4 my personal experiance with 5200's have been good in terms of there performance easily playing, mohaa, BF:V and 1942, COD with no problems. hell, one was even able to play farcry at lowest settings with almost no lag through most of the game. from what iv seen is that they are alot faster than the 9200 they were competing against. using one in my bro's system which is a AXP 2500+ and he can play mohaa at 1024x768 max detail @ 80fps
i can see an fx 5200 playing mohaa at 90+ easily, its based on the quake3 engine. format the computer and reinstall. bet that resolves things
nope, weve tried to reformat with no luck, even tried updating the bios on the card and no luck, they just seem to die
tried drivers right to the first ones that came with the gfx card, tried every mobo driver i could find
You dude definetly lived on high end video cards for too long. If cards like 5200 would not be able to run MOHAA there wouldn't be MOHAA around since people using High-end graphic cards are still minority (although all the people you know might own a kickass 6600/6800 or some nice ATI) the average PC is very very weak.
