I do like a spot of PSU modding and that Switch mod looks particularly nice. I Jist wondered if the Power switch should be DPST while you're at it but I can't see it matters much.

I might have to buy one of those and flog the clear fans! I wonder what CFM is advisable for that PSU? Or what temp range if thats how your thinking.

ok so the postman turns up and i have to sign for this thing i think i only ordered this thing wed and got here fri.

btw when they sell you one lian li screw they send a lian li screw 95p for a screw well it looks nice and fits in my global 802.. and all other cases.
where was i oh yea i ordered this power supply and it lowered my sys temp by about 3-4 degrees and my cpu temp is about 1-2 degrees less. its quiet.. thats all what you would expect had some idea to see if i could check out the air flow with my king size ciggoret smoke.
so unplugged the exhaust fan and plugged everything in. switched it on and got to the choose operating system screen.
thaught to myself i know ill just let it hang there for a while so wrapped my cig and smoked into the mobo (i know bad habit) and watched the smoke go up into the power supply.
hmm this is nice i thaught, then it occoured to me that the airflow didnt look right so i went into windows (just for the temp on fan speed) and oops i unpluged the wrong fan (the cpu fan was unplugged and the exhaust fan and the power supply fan where the only ones left to cool the cpu heat sink. it was at 78c luck i had that cpu overheat protecion makes life a little unexcitinghaving that.
the whole thing made it into windows quite nicely. shut down i thaught. and plugged everthing in. now where did i leave that cig.
    :dude:  :hehe:

just bought one of these and it won't even turn my computer on :eeek:

Mine's about as bad as any get for being voltage demanding (epox 8k7a, gf 4, 1.4 athlon... etc.) and a fair few PSU's won't start my machine - but I expected better froma 550W supply (my 400W supply works fine), expecially looking at the excellent voltages it gave macro.

:( Oh well, only £30 (inc. 2 day delivery!), I'm sure it'll go in a lesser system when I can afford to buy one ;)

In my case I doubt the unit's faulty... I have another well PSU here that won't turn my computer on and a very nice 340W one which when plugged in resets my computers every 5 mins (Vagp too low I think). I wasn't that surprised when it didn't work, but disappointed - any 500W PSU should work on near any system.

hmm, well the replacements on its way, so ill let you know :)

btw the PSU has a power lead that fits onto P4 boards, now if you dont have one, can it be cut and used as a 12v supply? or is it some kind of special power lead?

    thx

are there any comparitive PSU's like this available in the US? either that, or some adapter to step up the US's 120v to 230v.

because it seems like an execellent value, and good enough to give bragging rights (just about), but there's no switch to switch between both volatages like most PSU's! :cries:

I just got one of these the other day but ain't had time to fit it, it will replace a cheapo starnet 350w that runs fine. Seems like a good deal if they last.

i got one yesterday and im very impressed-this one actually means i can oc and play games because my previous poor generic 300W wouldnt let me oc or play games after putting in my new GF4-if it lasts a long time then 10/10

Been after a cheapy upgrade for my generic 300W psu for a while. This review puts it in a much better light than the one over on pcpowerzone. Can all you people with this PSU fitted, post a screenshot of your voltages achieved?
Does it maintain these voltages under load?
    Is it quiet?

    Thnx

Well i jumped into the deep end and got one of these supplies.

Heres how the voltages add up on my system these are under load.

As you can see its better cooling have brought my temps down too!!

    My impressions:
    Cool looking esp the fans!
Quiet, considering there is 2 fans in there.
    Good under load.
Cools my system down quite a bit.

is this as quiet as an enermax fan? i don't understand much about the db levels.. ie, could i sleep with this thing running about 3 metres away from my bed?

i need a quiet psu. ideas? suggestions?

Well its been running for a week non-stop 24/7 and hasn't crashed once.
    +3.3v = 3.29
    +5.0v = 5.03
+12v = 11.83 but i think thats the mobo preventing it going higher.
This psu replace a starnet 350v that ran nearly 24/7 for 6 months. The starnet will be put to use soon :) as it was a reliable psu.

    How loud is it?

Quick question, how loud is this thing really? I mean, compared to other PSUs?

Looks like a bargin, but not if it`s too loud.

I got a q-tec running an Epox K7A+ with no probs. Runs a solid 4.97, 5v line. My old crappy supply used to flicker down to 4.75v at times. I think this is a bargain supply at £25.

I would'nt say this PS is particularly loud, certainly not louder than any half decent cpu HSF I've come across. Just buy it if in doubt. Hell you could sell the clear fans for almost £20 if you wanted to.

Unfortunately not since I gave the PSU away some time ago. :(
Maybe someone else, (who knows what they are doing), may be willing to look inside theirs?
