Hi all, I'm looking for a good way to polish the edges of plexi so they look like glass again. I tried searching the forums with no results. Anyone knows the correct way to do it? greetz, Joungne
well, Sanding the edges is the best way.. start vith 400grit sandpaper and go to about 1200 or 2000grit... Then get some plastic polish or something... Flamepolishing is quiker, but the edges doesn't get 100% straight afterwards... it also makes the glass sensitive to alcohol and such...
ok, tnx Smilodon, I already sanded thelm down with 2000, but i didnt get the edges to sparkle, but they are straight as hell So I need plastic polish... Any idea where to buy something like that?
Search for the brand name Novus. I beleive Novus 1 is the polisher. I find it pretty easy to apply using a cloth wheel on a dremel, but others like to do it by hand.
Yes, sanding is the way. This pic has been taken on my current case project Citizen Clearios. I have about 11 meters of polycarbonate edges to polish I start with 800 paper and finish with 1200 paper. I'm satisfied. The edge in the pic is just sanded, not polished with any kind of stuff. edit: D'oh! It is polished with a DRY dremel cloth wheel.
Table saw -> Novus 2 w/ dremel wheel -> Novus 1 w/ dremel wheel -> drinking beer All within 5 minutes. But others like the 'done by hand' feel.
