sorry for the copypasta, but i wanted to show you every step of the designs i made, so on with the copypaste:

    may i present you
    Q-VENT 900
    [IMG]

    Supported by:

yes, its an antec 900 ill mod, so what do i want to do?

    • Rebuild the front so it works as a watercooling reservoir (blue part)
    • fit in a 360 Radiator
    • cover the front in black mesh (i guess hex)
    • make a cover for the motherboard and the PSU (shown below)
    • Remove drivebays (done that already)
    • make a custom hdd bay and attach it to the top
    • remove the top fan and replace it with a DVD drive
    • water cool almost everthing, including:
CPU, GPU, voltage regs, northbridge and the southbridge.

some more pics of what i thougt (the cover part where the pump is located is NOT final)

and some pics of the beta cover
    [IMG]

and that was my first cover layout
    [IMG]

    more sketches:

im going to rebuild the top so the dvd drive fits in nicely
    [IMG]
    the watercooling hoses:
made some paper progress, the cover with sidepanel on
    [IMG]
    and the new top
    [IMG]
the top, ill redo the layout though, dont like its look, to messy :/
    [IMG]
    Drive open
    [IMG]
    Drive closed
    [IMG]

so, hi again with some new updated and more final sketches of the soon to start mod, the new top
    [IMG]
and i also redesigned the front, which still works as a WC reservoir
    [IMG]

the outer shell is made out of black acrylic with little windows in and behind them is the actual reservoir made out of clear acrylic
    [IMG]

the harddrive cage will be custom made and fit under the top of the case
    [IMG]
ill also make some memory coolers for the video cards
    [IMG]
and the best part at the end, the cover ill make out of aluminium
    [IMG]

theres also a 120mm fan added in the bottom
    [IMG]

    with its own fanduct

ill also get some custom made water blocks for the mainboard
    [IMG]

    and now, random shots:

    rendered with kerkythea plugin
    [IMG]

im currently in the stae of drawing the cover onto the aluminium, but im working now which..
    sucks :/

first batch of pics, cleaned the shop today and made a nice foto booth 8)
so nice lightning and nice background = full win
    [IMG]
    plexi glue
    [IMG]
a stringe to apply the glue
    [IMG]
    random cables
    [IMG]
    NEW FILES <3
    [IMG]
    and this time REAL plexiglass
    transparent blue
    [IMG]
    extreme shiny black
    [IMG]
    and fully transparent
    [IMG]

anyways update time, drawed some of the stuff on the material
    [IMG]
oh what a fun work to draw
    [IMG]
oh heck i hope those wont break while filing :/
    [IMG]
    and the top
    [IMG]
    and lastly the cover
    [IMG]
its in the shop now
    jigsawed the cover
    [IMG]
after 3930 hours of filling and 34 kilogram of fine aluminium dust
    [IMG]
    everything straight yay
    [IMG]
    drilled 2 holes
    [IMG]
and the first one is done, but, failed :/ looks not cool
    [IMG]
next up, guess what, yeah filing x.x

improved my filing vise, welded a metal bar on it (at least i guess i did), previously the pieces i wanted to file where hold by a piece of junk wood
    [IMG]
so, yeah, thats what i could do
    [IMG]
another epic pile of alu chips
    [IMG]
    everything IS straight o/
    [IMG]
thats where i stopped, my thumbs hurt and i need to get some cutting disks because filing these take ages :/
    [IMG]
    almost there
    [IMG]
    quick sh00p
    [IMG]
guess what, i made a bending brake lol
    [IMG]
i shall call this, ghetto wet-shirt-air-filter-thingy
    [IMG]
but yeah, needed some cutouts for the hinges
    [IMG]
    cutted and marked the holes
    [IMG]
yeh, ghetto wet-shirt-air-filter-thingy, didnt worked that well, so i made a even more ghetto mod, old dryer hose house connnectionthingy reused
    [IMG]
    works :D
so, hours later i was done
    [IMG]
and my first test bend (didnt payed attention for the angle)
after the first test i covered the brake in paint to prevent rusting
    [IMG]
today i made the step which was most afraid of, bending the cover:
    while bending
    [IMG]
    damn straight
    aaaaaaaaaand done, whew
    [IMG]
and painted the inside flat black
    [IMG]
    :)

so thats all copypasta i had, next up are the real updates

Very cool design Froop, I really like the cover you made. You should make the custom hard drive cage look the same, instead of those round holes. Keep up the great work! :thumb:

Looking great so far, love the sketch-up design. In the sketchup I noticed the cd drive under the mesh in the original exhaust section, you plan on painting it black so that it's more stealthed and hidden? Think it would look better that way, as your putting soo much work to hide / stealth things, then you just see the grey box with the sticker through the top mesh. Good luck, looks awesome already!

That is some excellent metal work. Generally I don't dig the sci-fi themes, but yours has some sick style. Keep up the good work! :thumb:

Nice. I like what you did with the dvd drive. It seems like they should have made the case like that in the first place. Excellent file work.

I'll join in with the accolades! End result looks great, planning looks great, painting looks great.
I really like your tool setup as well. That filing jig rocks, and the metal bending brake looks good too! (did you score the bend line before to get sharper curves, or just leave au natural? Nice work.

i'm curious about your idea for the reservoir, will that be 2 thin vertical tubes on either side of the rad? That sounds pretty unique, and interesting. (if so I like it, if not, do tell more please!)

oh yeah, what was the ghetto wetshirt/dryer hose fan filter thing for? Clean up of metal shavings from filing?

nice work, great planning. I also like what you did with the DVD drive. Mine always seemed to kill the front look of the 900.

    Looking good so far...

Awesome work on the filing. I remember having to do so working for my dad in the body shop... I bet it was a pain in the tail.
