Ok so I just found a new annoyance and it's QFT.

I've seen it around for a few months or so and never really bothered with what it meant. So Today, when I saw it about 5 times in the same thread I looked it up. And to my astonishment...............IT MEANS QUOTED FOR TRUTH.

What the hell. That's a ridiculous thing to shorten up and a ridiculous thing to use. Why would you need to quote somebody.......then say.......QFT. IT MAKES NO SENSE! Just agree with the person. Half of the time I see this 3 letter sentence it is followed up with an explanation of why they agree.

I guess I must be having a bad day because every time I see QFT (since I found out what it means) I want to kill a baby bunny.

    QFT

edit: sorry, that was cheap. I used to find QFT annoying too; it's so lazy. Now I use it quite often though, so I can't really complain any more.

The idea behind QFT is that you don't press the quote button, cut out the relevant bit, and then say something like "yeah, very true" or "yeah, that's brilliant" etc.

QFT means 'Quoted for Truth'. It originally was used to hold people to their original posts. The idea is that I can quote something you said and hold you to those words. If you go back and edit your post to change your facts or delete a statement, my quote will preserve your original words. It effectively keeps you from saying, "I never said that."

In more recent use, the meaning has evolved to include agreement. That context might better be served by QFE, or 'Quoted for Emphasis'.

Basically, QFT has become the new QFE. Q.E.D.

I f@$#ing hate it when every bloody post in a thread has the post above it QFT :wallbash:

I don't need to read everyone's post twice! i mean wtf?!? Alot of guys around here like to QFT everytime they post

I'd rather see a few more lolcats and alot less QFT, save the QFT for the posts that really deserve it!

Brainwave - we should implement an automatic forum rule where any thread posted using the "RANT" tag gets moved straight to the trash

seriously people, get over it, sheesh!
