    Hell yes.

I never liked Duke 3D though, give me DN1 anyday :D Looking forward to Q4 if they can keep the multiplayer up to the super-purist level of Q3 whilst providing a Q2-like singleplayer experience ;)

I loved Quake I and Quake II. Never got into QIII, just never felt like a decent game somehow..felt pointless. As for Q4, I dunno..I'm apprehensive. If it's as ridiculously dark and essentially boring as Doom 3, I won't bother to buy it.

Didn't have a fast enough computer to play Quake 1 or Duke 3D (I was running a 486 sx2 50mhz) at the time so I just played Doom and RoTT. I always meant to get the Quake treasure pack with both updates but never seemed to get round to it.

Quake 2 was out before I'd upgraded too. Another game I meant to get but didn't - although I did buy it a couple of months back and played it for a while before going back to try and complete the single player part of UT2K4.

Quake 3 - bought week it came out while I was waiting for UT to be released. played the single player (no net connection) until UT came out the following week (I had a 3DFX Voodoo 3 with a voucher for UT)

UT- played and played and played and played. The chaos mod with the GOTY edition was brilliant - Proxy mines and exploding/poison arrows. In fact I still play this now -so much better then 2k3 -the graphics may have been improved but the gameplay and weapons were so much more balanced in the original. 2k4 did bring it back more to the level of the original though.

Newsflash, Quake 4 is Doom 3 with bigger levels! You think Carmack worked on that engine for centuries only to redo it with his newer titles? No. He sold Doom 3, now he's going to rename it, fix all the "Small and dark" levels by making them bigger, and actually lit, up the physics a little, and your all going to give him some more of your money. Cheers!

I played Quake (glqw) in a clan when I was younger and it was great fun, more fun that I had in any of the CS clans I have been in.

I remember playing QuakeII on my old IBM when I was a kid... loved it but the single player was a bit scary I dunno why, those creatures forced me to use noclip and pass some "scary" levels lol

I think was QuakeIII was ok...no more no less nothing special..

Quake4 however looks graphically brilliant obviously but I think it will have too much of a Doom feeling :/ and it actually looks like Doom with new models like somemone mentioned oh well

its got to be worth giving it a chance, after all its not set in WW2!!

im a little worried though at them using the doom3 engine though. i hope they focus on the actually game more than the look of it. exact opposite of doom3.

Quake 1 was easily better than Q2 - the monsters and atmosphere (if not the graphics) were way better. Quake 3 doesn't count cause it was only half a game (but still enjoyable).

I am pissed off they're having quake 4 have the same storyline as Quake 2. Shamblers, Fiends, those crazy wizard things, much better than lame-o robot "Strogg" crap. :p

Maybe I'm just emotionally attached to Q1 through the trillions of weapon and AI mods I made for it.

i dont think you should disregard quake 3 at all.
its probably THE game thats made alot of people sit up and get online with their pc.
onviously there were games before it, but q3 was when i really got into online multiplayer gaming.
i missed the first 2 quakes, and i suppose they dont run on winXP right?
