I do. It seriously pisses me off at night when i try to sleep, then of course, some member of my family is watching tv, and I can hear it. I swear, we need to buy some flatscreens. The tv's are the worst, then come the power bricks for laptops, ccfl inverters, and finally my crt. It's seriously the quietest crt ever, i haven't heard it's whine in three weeks (probably due to my noisy computer).
I agree with the noise. Alot of people think it psycosymatical (sp? but to be fair....) There is a way to prove it - you'll notice the pitch changes during channel changes on a TV or res changes on a CRT, go into the next room around a corner and shout when the disbeliever changes the channel. Annoys me anyway!
Haha...yeah, I get the same problem...nuts. HATE that sound...ranks about third under nails on a chalkboard and a baby's squeals.
Yup I get it too, and the changing channel thing is a great way to make people belief you aren't crazy. It's a bit weird though, I can sometimes get a similar sound with cars which are quite a distance away.
Ive noticed the extreme high pitched whine on occasion-however, the problem only happens for me when the CRT is running at a low resolution; the screaming stops (or goes too high frequency?) when I increase the resolution to 1280x1024; which is just about perfect for my A90F+ IMO
Resolution has nothing to do with it, refresh rate does. Anything 85Hz or over and I'm fine. A CRT TV drives me absolutely bonkers though, I can't stand that whine. Oh, and to be fair Kam, 21" Trinitron > 22" Diamondtron
21" trinitron all the way (what i have) it is stupidly heavy though... had it on my lap on the way to a lan (30 min drive) got out of the car and my legs gave way lol
I do! When my dad got me this neat-o new tv for ********* about 5 years ago it gave off that sound BADLY. Really quite annoying.
Never heard that noise tbh. I tried playing GT4 on my 42" rear projection TV the other day and I couldn't because of the flicker. That's not to say that it is a poor quality TV, it just isn't right for gaming because the refresh rate is too low.
That sound actually relaxes me, sending me into a catatonic sleep without fail. I used to go to sleep with a TV/Monitor on just cos it would put me to sleep quickly and deeply in an instant.
Yay, all join the superhuman club! No, really, My grandma's tv set is the worst one i've ever heard. I can hear somebody changing the channel on it from the other side of the house. And it's a new philips. This one has two whines, one really high, and another one just below it, so all the other people in the house can also hear it. The lower one doesn't flicker when the channel gets changed though. It's really odd, because people do tend to think that i'm crazy, you know, with me hearing the power bricks and stuff. I have proven to them that i know when they use the tv, but they don't believe me (not that i blame them, some person starts hearing noises in his head whenever someone uses a tv set)
open the window fool its about 8c outside now and with an x2 @2.6gig, oc'd x800xl and 2 crt's its still sufficiently cold in my room that i have to shut the window every now and then i cant hear anything from crt's either, i can hear powerbricks humming if its silent in the room and i put the thing about 3" from my ear
