    Hi!
This thread may be a bit silly , but I'd like an opinion about something I saw at tomshardware.

In this article's table they compare the performance (I think) of a Geforce Ti4200 with a Geforce 8400 GS. Is this true? Am I misinterpreting this?

The reason I'm asking is because I have a MSI Geforce Ti-4200-8X on my computer with an Asrock Dual-VSTA and a Core 2 duo E6600. I know I know, there's a bottleneck :duh: on this configuration caused by the mobo and the gfx (I'm sparing money to make the update, and I'm keeping the MSI Geforce Ti-4200-8X because it cost a lot at the time :wallbash:).

When I saw the table I thought I could upgrade to a Geforce 8400GS as they are quite cheap and I'm not a gamer. However, I have a dual monitor configuration (one @1280*1024 and other @1440*900) and I don't know if performance/"pixel handling" wise it is up for the task.

As I trust bit-tech more than I trust tomshardware, I decided to post the question. :worried:

    EDIT:
I know this may sound a noob question, but all I want is a comparable graphics performance to what I have today for the minimal price with a Geforce 8-series gfx (I'd rather invest on a motherboard)

Well first don't get a dx 10 card if you play old games. second for like 20 dollers more you can get a good card.

According to tom's performance chart, you are readin it correctly.
8400GS will handle dual monitor no problem at the resolutions you require, if the results are accurate on tom's chart then it would apper that the 8400gs is roughly same performance as the Ti-4200-8X, however of cause the gfocre 8 chipset will support newer directx versions such a 9 and 10.

    Thanks for your input!

It's amazing how these thing develop: I bought my Ti-4200-8X retail for about €200 and now I can my a much more silent and less power consuming 8400GS for ~40€ that has the same performance.

That was a very long time ago though, technology moves on quite quickly these days. :p
