damn long time since my last post i know but i had a really busy time due to a house move and new school. anyway here is the deal. i am in the middle of building a HTPC with pc parts i have around couse i now have a two room appartment and my pc is not in the living room anymore. here the specs: duron 1.8 gHz 512 mb ddr 333 epox MB Nvidia geforce 4 realmagic Xcard now my question. should i get WMC or stick with XP. i gonne use the HTPC only for music and .avi movies. dont know much about WMC and i dont know anyone who has it. so what u think and can i do something with the stuff i have. thanks
Do you mean MCE?, if so then there are loads of free programmes that will do what you want on xp such as mediaportal, the old mythpc, gotallmedia and xlobby etc.
I personally would go with Xp and mediaportal .... you can use pretty much what you have now without upgrading many things.
MythPC is not something to be approached lightly. I'm not familiar with the other names on your list herbs, but Myth is complicated and hard to set up. More of a project for a period of months then a piece of software you should expect to work the day you install it.
Sorry I meant myhtpc a honest typing mistake (I think you are talking about myth TV), myhtpc was the forerunner to meedio.
