Hi guys, I'm in the market for a new full cover block for a 680 and have a few questions. 1. Does anyone know what the difference between the EK CSQ FC680 + and the EK CSQ FC680 - is? 2. Is there only two mounting points for the incoming hos on the bottom, or does the included VID connector allow you to mount them on both sides? This is the one I'm looking at:
First, why a GTX 680? GTX 670 is nigh on the same thing for much much less. Also can't stand that design, prefer the old school EK-FC680 which has up and down ports.
wel looking at the EK online store there is only a listing for the 'EK-FC680 GTX+ - Nickel' could it be that the - comes from the listing of the materials (- acetal, - copper, etc) As for the adapter, it allows you to attach hoses at 90 degrees to the current ports like this
Ok, you got me! I lied. Its actually for a 670 - but one that uses the GTX 680 PCB. I also prefer the old style design, but finding a Nickel/plexi one is impossible and I really want to be able to see the coolant. This is the one I actually want. Ah ok, well that't not as bad as I thought, but I still prefer the old style as now I'll have to use angled fittings (which always leak)
Are you sure you will be able to see the coolant once its all fitted in your case? Ive got a similar one (older style) for my 7970 and without the mobo tray being inverted its pretty much out of view.
Yeah, that's the problem isn't it. Ok so maybe I should change the topic of this thread to: "suggest me a 680 block" I have a Nickel Plexi CPU block so it has to be Nickel to avoid having multiple metals in the loop.
Dont get me wrong though, i still bought a plexi one knowing that i wudnt be able to see it. So i dont blame you! Makes me wonder if i shud take my spare TJ07 and give it a nice inverted mobo tray mod.
So either a Gigabyte or perhaps one of the EVGA cards, think one used the reference GTX 680 PCB! I'd go Gigabyte since it's power ports are arranged side by side and not one on top the other.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who hates that design. Circles? REALLY!? It looks like something out of a 1970's kitchen that's been made from old duplo bricks.
Zotac 670 AMP! Edition. Has the 680 PCB. 1100Mhz Base clock, boosting to 1176Mhz. I'm gonna try and hit a 1200Mhz base clock under water. Agreed! Not a fan! If only I could find an old school Nickel Plexi, but alas, I can't find a single one.
