Would a tim remover such as the akasa one, turps or white spirit damage hardware is immersed for a short length of time (30 secs or so). I am considering changing the hsf on my radeon and have heard about people pulling off the top of the r300 core. I'm thinking about heating the card up, removing the clips, giving the hsf a gentle tug, and if it doesnt come off quickly immersing it/carefully applying something to soften the t.i.m, would this damage the core/pcb if only a short exposure?

try and heat up the card with a hair dryer this will heat up the pad and let you remove the HSF.
