I new to the Mac world and i can get a used G4 iBook 1.2ghz from a local store. Just so i can get a feel on how it is to use Mac

    My question is:
Does that model have build in wireless or do i need a seperate card? I know the new iBooks have build in, but i can't find enything on this older model.

    Hope somebody can help :thumb:

IIRC it is only the latest iteration that has the built-in wireless as standard - I.e. The 1.33Ghz 12" and the 1.42GHz 14". You can buy the airport cards separately which fit under the keyboard, but they're not cheap (£60+).

Also I think those older ones came with 10.3 (Panther), smaller (30Gb) hard drives and only 256Mb ram. So unless you're saving a lot over the new iBook, I wouldn't bother.

As Tomm said, only the new 1.33ghz iBooks have bluetooth and wireless as standard. But, you can add airport extreme to the BTO (Build to order), so if it's second hand, it may have wifi and/or bluetooth.

Read the USB OSX Wifi thread by Murdoc, he found a great solution to wifi and iBooks :)
