I am thinking of picking up an R3 soon but I have one thing holding me back...

...Can I fit a fan speed controller behind the door? The controller I want to use is my Scythe Kaze Master.

I know the R3 comes with a PCI slot 3 fan controller. But I need more than 3, and tighter control over each fan/pair of fans. I also like the temperature probes on my Kaze Master.

For reference the knobs stick out about 10mm more than my CD drive.

Before anyone says it, I have googled it, but as the case comes with a fan controller that is usually what google includes in the search, so clouds the results somewhat. I found that Aria's page says that 5.25" fan speed controllers do not fit, but I don't know if that is them covering themselves, or if certain ones with smaller knobs would.

Any help would be much appreciated. :thumb:

If it has a knob it won't fit "properly". However you can just push the controller a bit further back into the drive bay and it'll be fine.

Yeah, if you want it to fit flush with the front drive bays you'll need a touch screen fan controller as there's literally no room behind the door.

BTW, if you're interested in picking up one of the FD cases I'll have an R2 up in the FS forum in a couple of days.

    Cheers for the input guys.

I don't mind it not being flush with the bay as you won't see it anyway. I just want to be able to adjust it occasionally, as long as I can push it back into the bay then that's fine.

I may just be interested in your R2 smc8788, drop me a PM when you put it up for sale.
