I asked a similar question to this awhile ago. I just got a phone I want to mod. How can I wire up an LED into the phone so it flash or turns on when the phone rings, and stays on when somebody is on the line? Obviously all phones are slightly different but the basic principles are the same on all of them...

Is there anything I should look for to wire up to? can I feed it right into the buzzer lines? Any real help would be great.

I've put up a lot of posts lately 'cause I'm modding everything in the desk area (case, desk, phone, monitor, + some special secret stuff.:worried:) So basically I need a way to make everything fit the same theme.

    Thanks.

isnt it illegal to make / modify telephone equipment if yer not qualified to do it? i thought it was and thats what some phreakers got arrested for when it could not be proven that they were phreaking.

(think its phreaking any way where u steal the use of someones phone line?)

Yeah, you're supposed to use only approved equipment, but when I worked with BT they didn't really give a crap what people had done.

common modification of personal phone equipment isnt illegal (at least here in the states) but if you are modifying the phone to gain free access to services then yes you can be arrested for it. and yes it is called phreaking (think of it as the hackers of phone lines)
