    Ok,
So I am building a new computer and for the first time I'm using a non-stock heatsink, the SP-94. Didn't seem like it would be hard to install.

So ya, theres a syringe with something white in it that came with the heatsink. Is this for getting high if I accidently break my proccessor and start crying? (j/k)

If anybody could either help me out or point me to somewhere with good installation instructions I'd be very appreciative.

    Thanks

Sounds to me like you've got a tube of thermal compound of some sort. Heatsinks and cpu often seem to be lovely and smooth, but actually have minute little gaps in the surfaces which can become filled with hot air (from the running cpu). Thermal compound is used to aid in filling these gaps, and creating a better thermal transfer between the cpu and heatsink.

www.arcticsilver.com has some decent instructions for applying their products - you can pretty much apply them to any thermal compound out there :)

yeah, I'd agree with Theo. Just squirt a dab onto the cpu and use a credit card or something like that to smooth it out. youll want as thin a layer as you can get and still keep the paste consitant. kinda like putting icing onto a really expensive cake.

i followed the AS3 instructions and screwed it all up, it made me put too little on the HSF, now i just put a film on so you cant see the original colour of what your applying the compound to, works very well for me,
