why shouldnt you drive on the motorway or through areas with police if your on 3rd party insurance ?

i have 3rd party insurance with fire and theft because i can get it repaired far cheaper if i do have a crash (dad works for ford - all parts = cost + zero labour charge lol)

I always get my TAX disc online from DVLA, you just pay for it and they send it out. no proof or anything needed.

I think they check the databases, so if your MOT is expired they'll know.

^^^ Licensing and registration office do that, yes, it's how the online system works. But it doesn't differentiate between you having 12 months and 3 days worth of MOT on your car. The online system is sweet.

Funny thing about 3rd party fire and theft is there stopped being a discount for it a long time ago. Price up fully comp as well, I bet you the difference in policy price will be negligible. :'(

BTW I think the point was that if you're going to drive about without all your paperwork in order you should do it somewhere that cameras of various types aren't going to flag you.

That's pretty much my main worry - even though I live out in the sticks, there are two speed camera between me and the garage, as well as a few ANPR cameras around.

Thanks for the advice thus far :)

^ This. They're putting up bridge-mounted ANPR stuff on all the major roads into London, not to mention motorways have a very high concentration of ANPR-equipped cars. The third party thing is related to the MOT - if you're fully comp, you'll get less of a payout if you're not MOT'd, but obviously that doesn't affect third party liability so if you're only third party you're not affected at all.
