So i'm building a scratch made file server and i plan to make it quite small, possibly passive cooled, and these are some of the parts I plan to order here in the next few days. Just wanted to get someone else to do a quick compatibility check before i make a big "woopsy" and spend money on something i cant use :D

    mobo
    PSU
    memory
    CPU
    hard drive

and I am not using any ROMs and the LCD i plan on using is USB connections so i'm fine on that,

thanks in advance for the help :)

Mobo and CPU are fine, but you could down grade the ram, aslong as its a well know brand, just go cheap.

alright great, thanks for the advice mate :)

what do you think about this for RAM instead then? I guess I get nervous about going cheap but the word is its ok on ram then i guess it doesn't much matter

my other question is that do you think ill really need that duel-core CPU i listed above or would this be ok instead?

I really am only building this to host files for myself and my house, sooo

yeah go as cheap as possible for the job considering its just yourself.

Hell with the board you picked why not make it a HTPC aswell. The job your asking it to do an Atom based ITX would be fine.

well a big thing for me is the built in wifi would be fantastic and i am planning to have it be something of a HTPC sort of rig when i want one. haha

what do you think about the CPU though? should i even bother with dual-core?
