I'm briading some sata data cables white, done a fair bit of searching but can't find what size I should get I'm guessing about 10mm briad and 12.7mm heatshrink although I wanted to check just incase it doesn't fit properly then i'll have to and buy more and I have no monies! Cheers!
Make sure the heat shrink can stretch over the top of the cable That's where I went wrong! And I used 6mm braid for a tight fit! I'll edit in a Min with a picture! Edit: http://www.watercoolinguk.co.uk/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=98&products_id=909 That's what I used! Although given your planning on using white, you may find a slightly larger size will work better to disguise the red underneath! Or you would probably better off spray painting the cables white first, then braiding them, otherwise you will always get some colour showing through! That's how it looks minus heatshrink, I haven't got any that will stretch over the top yet
Yeah i'll probably get the 8mm briad then from that shop. Trouble is 12.7mm is the largest white heatshrink they do which i don't think will fit, so may have to go for black.
http://uk.farnell.com/ Not the easiest site to use, but their prices are far far cheaper! 25metres for like 5quid? Try on their for the sizes you need! Edit: http://uk.farnell.com/jsp/search/browse.jsp?N=500006+1001673&Ntk=gensearch_001&Ntt=cable+braid&Ntx= Thats got all the options for their braiding there
I recently braided some sata cables. I had to use 8mm braiding to get it over the heads of my sata cables as they are the kind with locking clips. I used 9.5mm heatshrink which fits over fine if you stretch it by putting a small pair of long nosed pliers into the shrink and then opening them to stretch it out. Then it can be slipped over the sata heads and it will shrink back to its original size for a nice tight fit.
