Is it just me, or is it is whole lot quieter on here than it was a while back?

I've not been here that long but I remember it being a whole lot buiser.

    I've noticed it too.
I've not posted much here recently either.

A few big posters have slowed down a fair bit. Leaves great gaping holes in the forum that were once filled quite quickly.

    I'm trying damnit :p

I don't mean just this forum either, all of them. HW/Gaming seem much much slower.

HW just seems to be about mechanical keyboards now.
I spend most my time in gaming.

It's all slower. Maybe the weather but I doubt it, last week it pissed with rain and the place still felt empty.

Problem is when some of the regulars just stop posting it makes you feel a bit like you're talking to a bunch of strangers.

The forum was on fire in the 2 years after it merged with CPC, but a lot of the old accounts are dormant or at best sporadic now.

Agree. Got one, it's fine, moved on.

Inexplicable quiet periods seem to be a phenomenon common to all forums I've used and an equally interesting phenomenon is that some one has to break the silence and bring it up :D.

The Internet is now finished. What's next then?

I'm trying! But most of the stuff in Hardware is aforementioned keyboards. I'm good with Computers, dammit, not peripherals!

My employers frown upon me not sitting at my desk during working hours ;)

Come 17:00 however, I shall investigate this strange phenomenon you refer to as "out side".

I thought it was 60,000 posts a day? He's just started up posting again (school holidays), and I'm guessing it was exams holding him back for the past several weeks.

    I agree, things have slowed..

As for the keyboard threads, it'll either be them, or 'Check my build before I buy' threads.. It'll pass eventually.

I was thinking the same thing about most forums being quieter then usual. I guess people are just spending time making money what with all the doom and gloom about. Hopefully it will get back to the it's usual self soon.

I find it much quieter on the bit-tech forum than anywhere else it's like people have decided its not for them anymore. It's really sad as I want it to be like it was a few years back.

There doesn't seem to be much to chat about. Even general seems empty.

I think it's just a slow month in terms of news and such.

That and Summer is not when most people stay inside. I wish I could go to the beach..

As a lot have already said, a lot of people are not on their computers during summer (über-geeks excepted) so posting does tend to dip. The same thing happened on a Land Rover forum that I used to be part of. Every summer the activity slowed drastically, as everyone was out playing with their toys. It picked up in late autum, and was steady throughout the bad weather. So, it will pick up, just give it a wee while.

These pop up full page ads probably haven't helped, but I can't see them on my iPad, so I don't know how bad they are.

    Cheers

I suppose now that some of the more recent prolific posters (Unicorn, noizdaemon666 & many others) have slowed right down due to work/family commitments etc, quite a few thread that would have had a good discussion have become quite stagnant.

I'm sure it will pick up and new members will step in, it just feels a little sad to see so many of the old guard moving on. As I've said before, my join date belies the fact that I was here from 2002 under a different username, and some good guys and girls are conspicuous by their absence - seemingly more now than ever before.

    :sigh:
