Well, if you really need to, he has both his Skype and MSN available to contact him with. Less of a mystery than MVgusta.

I do know he was raising young children, and may have begun to focus on them. Anyway, I might have a peek through his old posts to find any possible ways of contacting him, e.g. youtube videos, Steam.

    Let's talk about keyboards!

It has been quiet on here, the demote thread has died and that brought a lot of traffic to the forum. It's been quite nice that some members have left, I haven't noticed anyone interesting that has left in the last year.

Find a space saver. They're rare. Extremely expensive. And probably a joy to use. Id hack up my model m. But i cant bear to do it. Its too cruel. Also, i find blues to be more annoying than springs.

On ebay theyre usually cheaper than topres. :D they run for $150 on average. But before you do order one. Contact unicomp and see if they can custom make you a space saver.

You are made of money. I'm curious to your opinion of springs. Because i love em. They're just the right kind of crunchy. But really. Do give unicomp a ring first.

If anyone wants to find mx brown donor boards, look for a compaq mx11800. ;)

Unicomp are US based aren't they? I'd love to try a full board of springs!

Yup. They're US based. I'd send you my own board, but i only have one. And the postage would be obscene.

If i had a proper camera, i would. You can google it. But typing videos are hard to judge because i listened to a blues typing vid and it was much different in real life.

I'm still here, don't you worry.

My post count has bottomed out for a few reasons really... I've got a job, so that stops me sitting on here twiddling my thumbs. The time I get at work to browse is usually spent hammering spam, stalking a few regular threads etc, often moving on to other forums as well now; since I've been sinking into cars (i.e. more expensive hardware that lets me be outside when I'm not at work) it's still a novelty for now.

Chances are I'll swing back to computers again, I might even pluck up the courage to start a project log this winter... :D

Wait a second, tippity toppity marvellous idea.

Okay, MVGusta made a modded router which he was quite proud of, right? Now, as any of you can see in the first few photos, you can read his MAC address.

Now, Google a while ago, did their streetview trips, whilst at the same time picking up unencrypted wi-fi data. Now, they are supposed to have deleted that a while ago. However, they picked up other data - MAC addresses, which were in the wi-fi headers, unencrypted for anyone to take.

This is fully explained in the DefCon video, by Samy Kamkar, How I met Your Girlfriend, the video's I'll put at the bottom. The useful stuff starts at the end of the second video, and the most of the third.

Google kept these MAC addresses with one purpose in mind - locating their users (Location Services). What happens is, upon loading Google, some script is sent by your PC, detailing your MAC address, which Google compares to their database.

Of course, you can detect Wifi strength. By this, Google triangulates a person's position to within a few 10s of metres. Samy Kamkar included code by which a person could upload a person's MAC to Google to work out their position, and find out where they were on Google Maps.

I wouldn't advocate a BTer going to that location, but a quick search of that area in local news could bring forward any details of a serious injury/death.

Now, this is definitely an intrusion of privacy. If the mods object to this, feel free to remove this post.

*mod snip* I don't think that's really a good idea. Interesting thinking though!

Now, to flirting with my ex and heating up the pool...
