What is going on with this forum? Where is everyone? hardly any new topics and more and more people leaving we really need to do something otherwise I'm sorry to say the forum will die.

I'm not the only one who can see this I'm pretty sure a lot of people are scratching their heads thinking where has the bit-tech community gone

 

I have to agree sadly, I now spend most of my time in the keyboards thread as there isn't as much going on. I try to stay as engaged as I can with the modders but with myself not having good time for another project and not as much generally going on, I'm sad to say it's not a section I visit as much.

 

It's the new improved forum remember

 

Something has to be done otherwise we will loose the community, we can't give up we need to do something

 

Been thinking the same thing this past 2 weeks. Hours and hours go by between posts particularly in the gaming forum.

 

I've not been around much for a few months, just returned in the last week a couple of times. My absence is mostly due to other things going on but is also due to what seemed like a change in tone. Don't know what it's been like in the meantime but I found it was becoming less like a community and more like a school playground. Mods seemed to be intervening left-right-and-centre, closing threads, suspending and banning people. Don't know if others noticed that particularly or not, but it put me off. Not sure whether this was company policy or the mods acting of their own volition but it didn't seem necessary to me. There was a good melting-pot mix of people around here that kept it interesting. I'm sure there probably still is but a few things left a bad taste in the mouth.

Edit: Should also say that the ads that required quitting every time a new page loaded was happening about the same time and pissed us all off to f*ck, so contributed to my waning interest in dropping by.

Life pretty much beat me about the head lately. So I'm not here that often. I'll still pop into the hardware threads and help some of the new folks and the gaming threads because I'm a gamer/philosopher, but yeah it's been slow.

Still, dat post count.

When the general quality of the site drops (which it has over the last couple years, despite valiant attempts by the staff). People will drop by less and therefore post less. Its sad and I certainly miss the old days when there was actually a place called the bit-tech offices but there we have it, not a lot we can do unfortunately.

 

It really is very quiet now!

 

Yep its pretty much dying off on here tbh. Been thinking i might migrate to RPS more but they dont cater to my hardware fix over there as well. No-one talking to you about keyboards mate?

I go through phases to be honest, decided I needed to spend a lot of money on headphones recently and ended up making a few posts on head-fi, I'm sure I'll come back round to keyboards eventually. Since theres so much interest BT should do a few reviews of mechs that arent made by corsair or some other bandwagon jumper

 

Unfortunately it is because some members acted like they were on a school playground that thread closures and bans happened. The three people we banned over the last year (yes, there have only been three) garnered attention because other members kept reporting their posts and asking for them to be banned already. Unless you think banning someone who kept insulting other members for months (despite warnings), and then capped it off by posting pictures of four men engaging in simultaneous anal sex was an overreaction on our part.

I see a lot of good activity in project logs and modding, as well as software and hardware. Just because people don't treat this place like Facebook does not mean it is dying. We do of course struggle with the realities of this forum being hosted by a commercial enterprise by I like to think that Simon (Brumgrunt) does a pretty decent job negotiating the readership's views and wishes to a company that is used to doing things its own way.

In the end, the forum is what you make of it.
