    Hey,

I've recently aquired myself a G3 tower with OS X and i have to say i really like it. But its also really noisy. Does anyone know of any good ways to quieten down teh machine. The major culprits look to be the 6 gig quantum HD, the internal 120mm fan and the 80 mm PSU fan.

Firstly i thought the 6 gig quantum would be a doddle to change but when i put in the 80 gig it wont install to it. Do i need to partition the drive into smaller chunks?

Secondly the intenal 120mm seems to remove but it is screwed in from behind and i can't see how to get it out. Is it possible to remove it and if so, what connection does it use so that i can replace it.

Finally is the PSU actually all that noisy? If its the same as a standard ATX PSU internally i can just snip the wires and put in a new fan, but i'd like to avoid having to open up the PSU if possible.

    Thanks in Advance.

most of the time, apple uses proprietary psu's, so no luck replacing it. better off replacing the fan in it. as for the hdd, no clue. i heard wd hdd's usually work, but im kinda rusty on apple hardware atm, so do some research, maybe theres a compatible hdd out there. on the apple laptops they usually use standard laptop hdd's. the internal 120 fan, never been inside a g3 case before, but there must be a way to remove it, and if it uses a non-standard connector, it should be simple to wire on a new fan to the old connector. good luck.
