Windows Quotation marks and apostrophes in Word

    My English teacher said that he prefers that the texts we write contain straight quotation marks ( " ) and apostrophes ( ' ). The problem is that when I write quotation marks and apostrophes in Word, they get these little "curls" on them (I use Times New Roman).
    Is there any setting for this?

    Don't use smart quotes, in Tools/Autocorrect/Autoformat as you type. :geek:

    While we're on the subject, does anyone know how to insert the 'therefore' symbol in Word? I can't seem to find it in character map.

    Looks a little like this -> .:. (without the bottom-middle dot).
