I won't go in to to many details but just found out that forum member and super modder, Gup has passed away at the young age of 44 years old. I've dragged the post over to here from his wife. My condolences go out to all his friends and family. Hello, my name is Pascale Hamers, the wife of Gup alias Henk Hamers. Proud owner of the pyramid. I'm very sorry to tell you all but Gup alias Henk Hamers died on 16 february 2011 at the age of 44. His creative brain didn't want to give up, but his body decided different. In 2006 he got diagnosed with coloncancer for the first time. After his first operation, chemo and radiation it looked good but in the beginning of 2008 he got the cancer back in the form of rectumcancer. After his second and thirth operation and after two months hospital he heard that they also found cancer in the longs. So it had spread. He had some more chemo and different therapies but nothing seemed to work. During his illness he was very positive and very hopeful. He wanted to do so many things, create so many beautiful things. He was not ready to leave this world. He searched each day to see what he still was able of doing instead of nagging what he couldn't do anymore. We tried to make the best out of each day, hugged and laughed a lot, talked and created alot to make the last few years worthwile living. In that we succeeded. He was a wonderful man and a wonderful husband. And I miss him very, very much.
This is so sad to hear I love the pyramid mod, it's one of the most skilled pieces of work I've ever seen here on bit-tech. The modding community will miss Henk terribly. Rest In Peace.
M.I.P. (mod in peace) I would like to say it is a shame to loose a fellow moder. There is only a chosen few who can produce such amazing mods at him. Everyone please put down your dremels and remove your safety glasses in a moment of silence for a moder lost.
Bindi I ditto your words and raise a middle finger in defiance. Damn thats such a loss Rest in Peace buddy.
Welcome to my job. I never thought that I could feel such personal feelings of animosity towards an essentially random process that has no mind or intentions. But I do.
R.I.P his mods will go down in history there the ones people look up to and say "I want to be as good as him"
RIP It only seems right to post this here http://www.bit-tech.net/modding/case-mod/2010/02/26/pyramid-by-henk-hamers/1
Would be a good tribute to link his build(s) so we can appreciate them while thinking of him and wishing him a great adventure modding in the next life
R.I.P. He has made a lasting impression on the modding community. I really admire the pyramid and it is sad to see such a talented artist pass away.
RIP. Another one taken far too young. Lost my dad aged 48 to a heart attack eight years ago. Yet more proof that there is no "God".
