I will do it even better... I hope!

So this is the new front plate before drilling...

I´m making two variants for different finishing. This is 2.0, after drilling. I decided to just use one of the fans. A darker tone will be added to this panel later. I also think I´m gonna make some kind of fan grill in walnut, just for decoration. I have an idea, and I think it´s a good one...

Looks nice and clean and personally I enjoy the aesthetics of this piece more. Looking forward to seeing more of this. *edit* just to be clear, I thought the first one was good too.

interesting project. The color came out very nice with the Danish oil. I personally didn't think of a face in the original piece, but the second piece you've made looks good also.

Thank you! I also like the new front :D

Thanks Voigts... Yeah, the Danish oil really improved the luster. Only problem when you´re rubbing oil on darker hard wood is all the lint from the cloths.

Ok, so I´ve start working on that grill... Have high hopes about this one!

So, you´re a mortal???? I´m sorry, I don´t talk to those. Got too much pride :p

    Update:

Fan grill finished. It´s only glued so it may pulverize when you huff 'n puff on it  but I think it´s a beauty

I know, I´m sooooo happy with it. It actually turned out kinda nice :lol::lol:

Ok. I now have two new front plates with two different finishing, and I can´t really decide.
So I have a question for you guys, simply what do you think??
The walnut was my obvious choice, but I like the black as a bit of contrast to the rest, especially regarding the grill... hmm

    Version 1 and 2:

1: Authentic look of appealing decay (stained walnut)

    2: Black (simply)

I vote for the black. In the photo it seems to match the color of the black stripe on the side. If it doesn't match that well in real life though I would go with the other option.

Funny, I think an antique white would look well-like an old faded plastic arcade machine.

Oh Shiiiiiiitt!!! This is looking so dam good. Feckin excellent wok mate.

And as for the panel, I like the dark one, give an added bit of contrast to it.

    Top modding dude...+ rep

Thanks everybody!!! :D I´m still a bit woozy :worried: but good thoughs are always welcome. Was hoping for poll swing in some direction I guess... But I don´t have to decide now... Maybe I can ask you again when there´s a bit more to it?

    Thoughts:

The black front adds a nice contrast to the walnut and really highlights the grill(witch is my favourite detail).
It also match the foot, the roof and the joystick buttons.

Maybe the stained one fits a bit to perfect, and adds a kind of blurryness to the whole piece.
But it fits with the stripes and the stained artwork on top. As just a front piece alone, it´s the better one.
I´ve also put a lot of work into this one, but that feels kinda irrelevant anyway.

The black one doesn´t match the stripes that well.

I acctually made a piece in egg white, but ended up painting it black instead. But it was pretty nice...

My black buttons have finally arrived :lol::lol:

But as I am just to start on one of the joysticks, the controller PCB suddenly dies on me. So now I have to wait for another delivery :miffed:
maybe a couple of days before I can wrap it up.

    Delivery!
