hey, i was just having a read of stuff about clusters, farms, etc. well, theres a couple of things im not sure about... will windows be able to work (and possibly distribute seti) over a farm? what is needed per computer; is a stick of ram, mobo with 100mbps ethernet, processor and a PSU enough? how the hell would you configure/set it up?! any links and such would be appreciated. and a couple of other points, like would the main computer need to be uber powerfull/is there a main computer.. can you use a cluster for an equivalent of a multi processor system.. and would SETI run stuff as one big computer.. or distribute a WU to each CPU? thanks (sorry if this is posted in wrong section.. didnt know whether here, distibuted computing or networking was correct )
http://www.mini-itx.com/projects/cluster/ should be able to provide you with plenty of information regarding setting up and running a cluster.
