For some reason when I play 3d games i will get these little lines on my screen that pop up everywhere. Kinda like on an old movie film or something. Any suggestions?

You've overclocked your cards' memory too far, they're known as artifacts. If you haven't overclocked your memory, then you've got a dodgy card that uses leftover Rage Pro memory (or something :p)

I THINK I figured out the problem. I have a 300W PSU. I'm running a P4 and 9800 pro... 7 case fans etc etc... Lots of power. I think im short on power. So next week when I get paid I'm going to go buy a 400W PSU. Hopefully it fixes it...and I hope to god I don't have to return this card. Too much hassel.

Unless your PSU is utter crite or has serious power/rail issues then I would think it may well be the card.

Can you test in another system to see if the board has gone bad?

still it's a good idea to get more power....rather than saving that 100$ and risk burning your computer,i'd rather spend that 100$ and sleep easier

get a decent brand tho, enermax, antec, zalman etc... those qtec one rated at 550w are ****e, which is why they cost the same as adecent 300w.

Fotron is top of the line son. :p

****ing problem came back again so I went up to best buy real quick and got a 450W Antec and my problem still didn't go away. This is pissing me off. It only happens when something like a chat box is hovering over part of game play or something.

Umm...that always happens, DirectDraw boxes aren't meant to be sitting on top of OpenGL fullscreen apps...live with it. It shouldn't happen very often...

No I can't. I take a screen shot and it looks normal in paint. ASDFASDFDSAFSDFASVERADF

I'm just going to RMa the card back to ATi. I know I'm not overclocking it too much(not even overclocking). And I know it's not a cooling issue. I most likely have a bad ram chip.

    :(

It didn't fix the problem(3.8 drivers). It fixed it for a while but it started back up. I mailed my card out to ATi yesterday and should see a replacement withinn 10 days. Apprently it has a bad ram chip. Which is complete bull**** for a $400 card. I'm stuck on some 16MB card until then =~(

its not bull ****. just bad luck. things happen and the ram chip comes out defective. if you paid $400 for the card then you should shop around more. i picked up my radeon 9700 pro for $300 when it first came out!

shipping is a killer sometimes. i got my card offline so i didnt get any shipping fee. it also helps when you know the manager at a local circut city and you can get the stuff at the bulk rate.

hmm biggie now thinks there might have been a small batch of crap 9800pro's. Not nearly enough to have a recall but enought to make a dent. I am about to try and rma my card. Its quite annoying now and I think it has been the cause of my troubles...
