I've been slowly and laboriously re-installing Win98SE and all my progs back onto my new PC, which now has a spanking new Sapphire Radeaon 9800 Pro.

I've got Win98SE up and running, 100% updated, ethernet and sound drivers installed. Now I've gotten to installing the Catalyst drivers from the Sapphire Drivers Disk for the Radeaon 9800 Pro.

Once installed I reset my moniter to Truecolor and 1200xwhatever within Settings>Control Panel>Display>Settings. BUT if I hit the "advanced" tab I get ye ol' blue-screen-of-death. So I cannot see whether my Radeaon is set to 4x or 8x AGP. :eyebrow:

I have yet to update the Catalyst drivers to 4.2 or 4.3. I assume this may fix this problem. Any thoughts? And any tips for replacing the drivers?

Also how do I find out which Catalyst drivers I'm on at present? And how does one get into the Radeon's settings to switch anti-aliasing and anisotropic filters on and off?

I've been using a Matrox G400 for far too long!!! :naughty:

First off, there is a very good guide for installing/re-installing Catalysts at www.tweaktown.com . Check that out for how to go about making sure you have a good clean install when you try my next suggestion: do not use the drivers that come from Sapphire. :D Go to www.ati.com and get you some recent drivers. I didn't care much for the 4.4's, but the 4.2 and 4.3's have done me very well.

Once you get everything up and running like you want, you can set the AA and AF by going to Display Properties=>Settings=>Advanced=>3D Settings....I think. I'm at work so I can't tell you for sure. But that should do it.

Does your motherboard support 8x AGP? Just checking. Also, do you have directX 9 installed? Just a couple of other things. :D

Before install the Radeon 9800 Pro drivers from the Sapphire disk, everything has been a clean and thorough install. And yes, my mobo does support 8x AGP and I installed DirectX 9 during the MS Critical Upadtes.

I think I'll un-install the drivers the Sapphire CD loaded up and start again with fresh drivers.

Let's just hope I can get into the advance settings, IF the lastest Catalyst driver (4.2) fixes the problem I'm having. :wallbash:
