today i started to build the top deck of this case, and decided to make the main and actually only deck of athe viking longboats. even though they has skeids, drekkars and snekke longboat all slightlöy different, this is just a similar type. just a partial crosssectiones dekc part with oars as top deco. not finishe yet.
also seeing as the vikings giot to know glas in england and didnt have it themselves, i will use these perfum bottle bases as led windoiws for hdd and power. modern fitting led holders would just not fit in right.

thanks bartacus and waynio, yes i simply love delving into themes and trying to get as many relevant details combined into the hardware array always.
even though the viking didnt really ever have helmet with horns, this here does have because thats a symbol we all know. wagner was a liar and malström too and hollywood took care of the rest. but the only horned helmets they probably had were more like ceremonial ones.

i just had a someone in another forum saying why and sos, so i thought i would stress that fact a bit.

hi guys, didnt get much made this weekend but the top decks oars are shortened and pivoted for movement and the helmet draw bridge levering servo controller has a new housing in the same style as the pully winch system. it has a speed controll jogwheel and an auto-manual switch

i will soon be starting the interior.

 

today i didnt get much done, but managed to get in some little details.
the leds are actually the bases of perfum bottles which i ground off and they look like ancient windows of imperfect glass. didnt want any modern led sockets which would ruin the overall design theme.
apart from that i have tested a stain color which is nice, the iron ring isnt ready yet, just wanted to see the contrast. and I made n mounted the door opener switch which if you dont know, isnt one at all.

thanks jones and colin, i love this theme too. the only hardship i am having is hiding modernity, am doing my best to stick to the V look and still ahve modern stat eof the art hardware too.
just i am ready by the 5th of august for the german casemodding championship at the gamescom.
thats the goal.

so after more or less finishing the major deck and details i took the whole rig off again, as well as the doors too so that i could work on the main and making a sort of bow stern cross section style so that we can all see the underneath door opening pulley winch system,
am starting the interior design now and finding the exact places for the hardware and gimmiks.
the door will also hold some extras and surprises.

forgot one pic, here it is. some parts are still just stuck on with tape, first paint then they will be stuck steadfast.

this is indeed a small and unspectacular update, have started patching in the hardware components so that i know where and what and how i want to conceal certain parts. a lot to do here. by the way the leds are not blue, they are white. the camera picked them up wrong.
i also had the idea to use the outer excess ring of the shields which i had cut smaller adn had lease left overs. cut to size and in semispheres, they will be the front fan frames. instead of being wasted.

i made amb tray which can be slid off and instead of taking the coolermaster M1000 PSU, i decided to take the V700, full modular, also coolermaster instead. less wires hanging around.

hi guys, here is a little update. have started the interior in the same ragnar design. tomorrow i will be spending most of my time in the cellar workshop and will be posting a larger amount of pics afterwards.
have the fan cover in, the extra usb ports and sound controll slavaged from desk loudspeakers. the plastic will be clad in the same paint effect which will make it look like iron.

thanks mate, glad it Appeals.
am now working on the interior and have thought up some more viking elements here too.
eventually with paint they will look good. i made a sail which will cover most of the MB, it will look like they have wind in the sail with the 8 rolls of Cloth sewed in rows.
.some rooofing Posts which can be slid off all in one go to quickly Access the wiring.
