OK guys, I hope you can clear something up for me. Raid 1 is data mirroring, and RAID 0 splits the data between two drives (please correct me if I'm wrong here), so then does RAID 0+1 split data AND mirror it? if so, how does that work? would you need 4 drives for this, or can it be done with two? please help.

RAID 0+1 requires 4 drives, and is basicaly a RAID 0 with the striped drives having identical backups. I think you can do a google search to get the full explination :thumb:

I personaly didn't see the need for such redundancy and just went with RAID 0, but should I have one drive fail, I lose it all (which is why I have all my data backed up on an external server).

What application are you wanting to use this for?
